It is a small thing

and it will start slowly. I live in Lamar Alexander's hometown. He is absolutely ignoring the massive amount of criticism about the Betsy DeVos nomination. He clearly does not care what his own constituents think. He will probably not run in 2020 because he is old and really rich. A major road through our town and county which runs to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is named the Lamar Alexander Parkway. We are beginning a movement to change that name.

I cannot get involved in a big way because I am having surgery next week and cannot be posting and speaking while on narcotics, so right now I am working to stir other people up on this issue. I will join them when I am recovered.

It is a small thing, we probably cannot replace him in the Senate but we will make a big effort to take his name off anything in his home town.

I told him in an email that his late father who was a local public school principal, would not want his son's legacy be that he worked to destroy public education. I threw in some comments about taking care of his mother while she was in the hospital. It fell on deaf ears but made me feel better.

I'm disappointed.

By now, I should know better than to expect anything good out of someone with an (R) beside their name.
