(28,270 posts)But gee both parties are exactly the same...and..emails...uh..can't vote got more important things to do..etc.
Now fascism controls the entire govt.
Looks like we are totally *ucked to me. We can and should protest but no one except the republican controlled house of reps can actually stop Trumputin.
Whats the chances of that happening? Less than zero no doubt.

(266 posts)This is how Democracy dies: unchecked executive power from an illegitimate president.
No court or any law has kept tRump from doing anything he wants to do; why would it happen now?

(28,270 posts)I'm tired of people saying this shit can't happen here while its happening right in front of our eyes everyday!
What are the leading democrats doing about it today?
Oh they are still fighting each other and jockeying for positions in the DNC while America burns.
Great.

(28,270 posts)Fascism has taken over our government. This isn't a game. This isn't rhetoric. This is fact, not alternate fact either!
If the democratic party doesn't immediately get its shit together and oppose Trump 1000% in every damn thing he does we are FINISHED!
How long do you think Fuhrer Trump will allow sites like Democratic Underground to exist?
Oh that couldn't happen here right?
It can happen with the anti american criminals in charge of this country and it IS GOING TO HAPPEN!
We need our party and its leaders to come together as one NOW!!!

(5,111 posts)I've posted venting my frustration with Senate Dems like Feinstein willing to confirm Jeff Sessions and someone alerted on me! I'm on the verge of being suspended. I'm starting to become a bit suspicious of the alerters. Can't imagine a true Dem wouldn't feel the same way, but apparently there are those who are trying to suppress criticism of Dems in Washington who are going easy on Trump.

(28,270 posts)that many people refuse to see the reality of what is happening right in front of their eyes.
I wouldn't worry too much about being banned from DU when the damned fascist republican government will ban and shutdown the whole site soon I bet!
Get your words out now before Trump shuts down DU, KOS, etc.
America died when Trump placed his hand on the Bible and lied his ass off!

(20,818 posts)Feinstein in a thread earlier this week, only the second time I've ever had a post removed in the fourteen years I've been on here. Just because I criticized one Dem's vote on a particular issue does not at all mean that I'm against Dems, not in the least. I'm hoping and praying that they can help stop this madness and save us and I'm heartened so far by the actions of Franken, Murphy and several Dem governors and AGs. God knows my own entirely GOPer repuke congressional delegation not only doesn't give a damn, but is cheering on the Cheetolini.

(15,303 posts)A simple flip of a switch (or perhaps several) will turn the internet dark for 99% of the US. The 1% will get access like the privileged of NORK or the new USSR.
A more subtle approach would be to get the large purveyors of ads (google?) to modify the pages to look like tRump is a normal human being and the liberals are lying leftists. The obligatory: Oh wait....
DemocraticUnderground? Never heard of it. And my name is not erronis.

(11,243 posts)Bill Kristol likes him. He was one of those hounding Clinton about her emails during the election. Also got in big trouble for tweeting pictures of his junk. He's RW and a little nutty. Looks like an alcoholic from his photos too. He works for Trump's son in law and close advisor. Hmmmm.... I like what he is saying too, but I would take it with a BIG gain of salt.

(11,243 posts)The enemy of my enemy is my friend..... But this guy is not really our friend, he is not stable and he works for Jared Kushner. Doesn't mean he is not right on this one thing. I re-tweeted Bill Kristol twice last week on Russia stuff. He is still a blowhard and wrong about everything else, but I know who he is and understand his motivations. This guy, not so much....
So is Kushner pushing back against Bannon? That is a WAY more interesting thing than a discredited NSA guy saying things we like on Twitter. Or are they running another game on our heads?
People on the left really have to look at sources too. It's not just the right that is manipulated by fake news.
On edit:
Kushner IS Jewish. Bannon, although not overtly antisemitic himself, does represent and appease a full-blown neo Nazi faction in his white nationalist coalition. The press release Bannon wrote on Holocaust Remembrance Day that omits all mention of Jews was a direct wink and a smile and the Nazis in his coalition. Smart Jews would see that and be afraid.
KittyWampus
(55,894 posts)He doesn't look as much like an alcoholic than Bannon does.

(11,243 posts)That is SERIOUS baggage. You can do with it what you want, but Jared Kushner is in Trumps inner circle. Fact.

(11,243 posts)He is a known conservative. It doesn't prove that he is Kushner's tool, but it is enough of a flag that I am suspicious of his motivations.
And again, it would be WAY more interesting if he was posting this stuff BECAUSE Kushner wanted him too. Think about what that means if it is true.

(11,243 posts)It's not an either/or proposition. This guy who just tweeted had a serious career which he lost as a result of taking, texting and/or tweeting pictures of his junk. Why would a guy who's career depends on keeping secrets do such a thing? Also, the pic on this twitter shows him drinking. And his face shows the ravage. Not as bad as Bannon's, but it is there. You don't need to be Sherlock Holmes to connect the dots.
It is what it is. Doesn't mean he's not right, but he's not a fully legit source either.

(76 posts)From MedicineNet.com:
The American entertainer of vaudeville and the movies, W.C. Fields (1880-1946), had rosacea with rhinophyma (ryno-fee-ma).
If it is not effectively treated, rosacea can cause rhinophyma (literally, growth of the nose). With rhinophyma, the nose is bulbous, enlarged and red and there may also be thick bumps on the lower half of the nose and nearby on the cheeks. Rhinophyma occurs mainly in men.
W.C. Fields' lifestyle -- he had a well-earned reputation for imbibing -- did not cause his rosacea but it probably didn't help much. Avoiding food and drink (such as alcoholic beverages) that cause flushing of the face is recommended in rosacea to help minimize the enlargement of blood vessels in the skin that is part of the condition.
As odious as Bannon is, he deserves the same reserve regarding a medical condition as anyone else.
lutherj
(2,496 posts)his sexist and racist political stance which appears to be compensating for something, the small scabs scattered around his face, and a penchant for not shaving - it's a reasonable possibility that he is alcoholic. And given his position of power and the harm that he could do, I think it's a valid topic for discussion. Mental illness is also a medical condition. That doesn't let Trump off the hook.

(288 posts)There's an alternative view-- that it elevates the VP (president doesn't have to be there) but I'm not willing to wade through the text to determine if that's true. The theory goes that the adults are trying to put Donald at the kid's table and keep him away from the meetings.

Wikipedia -
"A self-coup (or autocoup, from the Spanish autogolpe) is a form of putsch or coup d'état in which a nation's leader, despite having come to power through legal means, dissolves or renders powerless the national legislature and unlawfully assumes extraordinary powers not granted under normal circumstances."

(4,033 posts)It is a distraction. Everyone is running around all worried about the ban, while the real action is going on almost unnoticed - Trump/Bannon are taking over the government in a coup. Congress is silent - both Repubs and Dems. Trump is making himself a Fascist Dictator and Congress and the courts are silent - or worrying about the refugee ban.
He kicked the Chairman of the JCS and the Head of the NIC off the Security Council!!!! He (well, Bannon) overruled the Dept of Homeland Security about 'what the EO meant' regardless of what it actually 'said'!!!! They are doing what they want, when they want, without input from Congress, Courts, other Depts, even their own lawyers.
This is not just aberrant behavior, this is an attempt to demolish our Democracy in favor of Trump/Bannon being an absolute dictator.
