I believe the comparisons are now accurate and appropriate to apply.

Including his statement that the detentions at airports are going quite "nicely". Reminded me
Of how Hitler made the trains run on time.

But I take your point.

Fascists love "order" as long as they get to decide when to apply that.

Even if it's a stretch to directly compare the two, it offers good insight into how megalomaniacs with unquestioning followers act, delusions and all.

-- gently patting his beloved dog Blondi on the head one minute and commenting on the massacre of his own German people as inevitable because they are "weak" the next. The scene in which Hitler learns of Himmler's betrayal, and Hitler's fantasies of endless loyalty from the one person he thought was the most "true" come crashing down, is incredibly haunting. Also, the scenes of Hitler ordering non-existent troops to defend Berlin as the few remaining Wehrmacht officers know that he is living in a world of total fantasy and mental breakdown is very haunting indeed.

I don't think anything really comes after that. They want that state to be permanent and eternal. If we don't stop them now, we don't get another chance. And the coup was planned to make The People helpless to redress. It took years and a triple GOP majority. But Putin is a patient man.
