the logic behind Trump replacing generals with Bannon on the National Security Council

In some ways it makes sense.

After all, Trump knows more about how to defeat Isis than the generals do. He admitted that himself. Also Trump has told the generals to go off and come up with a plan to defeat Isis, so they're probably too busy to sit at the National Security Council.

So they are going to be working on Isis, which Trump knows more about, and they don't have to be concerned with security matters.

See? It's all perfectly logical.

You know, it's not easy being sarcastic these days. The Trump White House keeps getting ahead of me in ridiculousness

They're very likely to say exactly what they think about things. That's a problem for Trump, who depends on people to agree with him, no matter what. So, dump the Generals from the NSC, and bring Bannon in, instead. He will not only agree with Trump, but is the one who is telling Trump what he should do.

This is a very bad business. Presidents need people who will tell them they are wrong. Without them, Trump won't hear it.

But all this really does is increase the scale of the inevitable crisis and tragedy that spills out from these thugs' power grab

And of course we should always ask who benefits.

Who who benefits from a strategic level miscommunication between the US's political leaders and its military leaders? I believe that would be Russia and Isis

I suspect it is not a good thing, though. Personally, I'd like to see Bannon thoroughly investigated by the FBI, with a complete background analysis and all of his actions examined for the past thirty years.

Perhaps we'd learn something from the results of such an investigation.

In the meantime, this action with regard to the NSC is very worrisome. Sadly, we are only observers from outside. We need people inside to give us information about plans. Perhaps that will happen.

Knowing that explains everything.

Dugan is Russian bolshevik and Bannon in his own words is a Leninist who wants to blow up everything.

But I'm not sure it's appropriate (and I guess it's not really "levity", but it's certainly of a different tone than I would have taken.). This looks like a coup to me. I'm very much afraid that it's "happening here".

Hope I'm wrong.
