How long before Trump and the GOP simply start ignoring federal judges...?

...not long at all, is my guess. After all these decades of railing against "activist" judges, the GOP and its base clearly regard anyone who rules against them as illegitimate. Trump, of course, is a madman and despot, and is practically foaming at the mouth over the opportunity to stick it to those "liberal" judges. And I guarantee you, the whole GOP will go along in lockstep. As, of course, will the GOP "base" and the Trumpistas. I expect this to happen within a matter of weeks, maybe even days.

that made me laugh out loud, so true.

Honestly though I do not believe the GOP is behind him on this, not this soon and not doing it this way. I don't think they will support him and I would say that this is probably going to be a habitual thing, doing whatever he does as clumsily and gracelessly as possible and making the GOP cringe and curse under their breath. Not that they don't support his policies just that they probably want him to ramp it down and do things in ways that don't cause people to take to the streets, the same horrible stuff, just more piecemeal and under the radar. I hope they are fighting behind the scenes...

He jumped right into the middle of this. It indicates his advisors are incompetent.

...and most of the people he can get will go along. If he does an Andrew Jackson, and tells the courts to go fuck themselves, what can the judges do, anyway? (And we know that Jackson is Trump's role model as President.)

I just don't know who will follow his orders if he simply tells the judge to go f herself.

It's a sincere question. I mean no snark. I just can't imagine who would go along in such great numbers if the local police are told by their bosses, the mayors, to follow the order of this federal judge.

I DO NOT want violence but I don't see that standing if he ignores the courts.

most of this shit has already been litigated. Repubs have been trying to stack the courts for decades to overturn what real judged did many years ago. I've already heard that the Muslim ban EO violates the immigration law passed a few years back on it's face.

Once Trump seats a CJ, we might be screwn.

14. Andrew Jackson did it, and got away with it

A Jackson quote: "John Marshall has made his decision: now let him enforce it" This was about missionaries convicted and sentenced for living among Cherokees.

Later Jackson wanted to evict the Cherokees from their land. The Cherokees went to the Supreme Court, and won. But Jackson ignored the court, and evicted the Cherokees anyway. the result was thousands of Cherokees dying on the "Trail of Tears" in a forced march to Oklahoma (which happened to be occupied by other tribes.
