Do you know that there is a mumps outbreak in the US? Video at link

CDC: Mumps cases at highest level in 10 years 01:49
Washington state reported Wednesday that there have been 278 confirmed and probable cases of mumps across five counties since October: King, Pierce, Snohomish, Spokane and Yakima. Mumps is a contagious disease caused by a virus spread from person to person through saliva and mucus.
To stop the spread, officials urge people to get vaccinated and to take precautions.

"We are telling folks if you're sick or you think you have mumps, stay home," Johnson said, adding that this advice is especially true for kids and folks in contact with schools, universities and colleges.

The CDC has received reports of 228 cases of mumps between January 1 and 27.
"Almost half of them are being reported from Arkansas," Patel said. "Arkansas is also having a large outbreak that is continuing into 2017."

test done to see if they still are protected.

All children should be vaccinated, unless they have a condition that prevents that.

Thanks malaise, good information

An Army captain I knew in the 80's caught chickenpox from his daughter & the military medical corps hospitalized him for three weeks.

Years ago one of my college instructors got mumps from his kids & was out for weeks, with a case was so severe his doctors told him he came close to dying.
