The recording of a closed-door meeting on Thursday revealed GOP lawmakers concern about moving forward with a quick repeal. Wed better be sure that were prepared to live with the market weve created [with repeal], said California Rep. Tom McClintock. Thats going to be called Trumpcare. Republicans will own that lock, stock and barrel, and well be judged in the election less than two years away.
While Trump insisted along the campaign trail that he would both repeal and replace the healthcare plan, the GOP has yet to craft a single plan that could effectively replace the ACA. Earlier this month, the then-president-elect promised to replace Obamacare very quickly or simultaneously, very shortly thereafter.
There appears to be no consensus on a replacement plan, as of Trumps Thursday visit to Philadelphia for the GOPs three-day retreat. We dont want to set arbitrary deadlines on things, said House Speaker Paul Ryan, according to Kaiser Health News. We want to move quickly, but we want to get things right.

(272 posts)I mean, they've only had seven years to formulate an alternative. Plus they're so busy with all those jobs bills, and infrastructure modernization bills, and making sure we have clean air to breathe and safe water to drink. You know, the things that matter most to people.

(82,849 posts)Really, what's the big hurry as Republican whining grinds on?
Remedial legislation could have been proposed by Republicans any time during the last seven years, but they proposed exactly nothing at all. This should be prominently mentioned every time Ryan or McConnell or some other Republican comes out to complain about how hard legislatin' is.
