My anger at tbe Democratic Party establishment is growing!

I know; they don't control anything, but GOD DAM IT: POLITICS IS PERCEPTION!

There a few, Maxine Waters comes to mind, but the overall coordinated opposition to this new American fascist regime is PATHETIC!

We are in real danger, folks! There should be a daily talking point, echoed by ALL, about how Trump is a threat to everything this nation stands for.

Think I'm wrong? What would the GOP be doing if the shoe was on the other foot?

I have had the same thoughts but had trouble putting them into words. So thank you for your post.

Whom do we call to put the pressure on besides our Democratic Senators and Representatives? The offices of Pelosi and Schumer and the rest of the Democratic Leadership? What other offices should we be calling?

I am finding alot of outrage on twitter by Democrats but that seems to fall short big time even though I guess it is better than nothing.

Compared to republicans. But the representatives have a backbone

2001 - Bush loss the popular vote and barely won the electoral college because of Florida. The Senate was 51-49. And the republicans ruled as if Bush won in a landslide and they had a filibuster proof major thanks to weak Democrats.

2009 - Obama won the popular vote by 7 points and the electoral college in a landslide. The Dems had a 59-41 advantage, but governed like Obama barely won and as if the Senate was 50-50. While the republicans blocked and obstructed everything.

2017 - repeat of 2001

Democrats have been objecting. In two hundred years, there have only been 9 choices for a cabinet position denied. That we're objecting to 6 so strongly is unprecedented. And while the narrative Yertle put out was of no cooperation, it was far more narrative than actual practice.

http://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2017/1/27/14397448/democrats-trump-cabinet

On Ben Carson: this is my personal opinion, and I could be wrong. I think he's ignorant of government, boneheadedly wrong on some of his opinions, and is typical of most neurosurgeons in that he's got a swelled ego. He's spent his life receiving flawed and just provably wrong information from his faith and does not think critically about his faith and the cultural aspects of it. But I do think he is capable of learning and critical thinking, capable of empathy, capable of evolving when exposed to better information than what he has gathered by osmosis. He seems to want to see HUD survive and the mission protected. I don't think he's bent on destruction, unlike, say, DeVos or Perry.

I get and often share the desire for a complete hands off, total resistance, but I also recognize how unprecedented the level of resistance is now.

Show some grit. A little rebellion is a good thing. They only have to look at history to learn where this "can't we all just get along" attitude has gotten them: nowhere. People think of Democrats as weak and spineless.

Who cares if they're ideologically poisoned, End-Times shitbags or pig-ignorant of the offices they're seeking? I mean, we wouldn't want to appear all partisan, would we?

If everything Donald Trump or the Republicans do is the worst thing ever, then it's really hard to get people's attention when he really does do something dangerous.

Frankly I don't take me cues on how to behave from the Republicans. Just because Mitch McConnell is an asshat, doesn't mean I have to be one.

Twice, in Texas, a group of Democrats staged walkouts so as to prevent a quorum. Most recently in 2004, during a fight over redistricting, they actually left the state to avoid being dragged back by law enforcement. The redistricting bill eventually passed when one of them caved and came back. Still, I think it was an important act of rebellion for the minority, even if only symbolic. They can also be primaried and should never forget it.

There would have been a real threat of civil war if "the will of the people" were not respected. I'm betting Dems would have been first in line to help abolish the EC, in the name of "fairness".

I'm pretty sure Dump had contingency plans in place for that scenario.

And yes, I'm very frustrated too.

I don't think they believe it would be either effective, or politically wise, to throw up lockstep opposition to everyone Trump tries to appoint.

Look at the GOP...in eight years they took it all by using the opposition tactic... do not collude with Republicans... I told Tim Ryan that if he colludes with the GOP, he will pay a price...and they all should. This is not business as usual. That sort of thinking has gotten us where we are today. Democrats can not allow the GOP to pain them as GOP light...they are the same meme.

We are also working towards a successful mid-term. Don't wait for your leaders fight...fight.
