Do you presume DEMS will choose to fully obstruct tRump's SCOTUS nomination?

I get the gnashing around DEMS on The Hill (like Schumer, Warren, and others) sadly voting yes for tRump's cabinet appointees.

If this is part of a "pick our battles" mentality, we at least still have the 60 vote requirement for the SCOTUS.

My presumption is, considering McConnell fully obstructed Merrick Garland --- there will not be one fucking DEM vote for a right wing wacko SCOTUS nominee determined to push back women's reproductive freedom + civil and workers rights 50 years.

This voting line should not be crossed! No compromise. Agree?

But I agree. Part of the Resistance is complete and total opposition to the Republicans' agenda.

WE need to see RESISTANCE which mirrors the resistance of 3.2 million protestors/marchers on 1/21.

If we don't see this kind of courage from DEMS, even strategically - our party will be set adrift.

Correction, all over the world

Damn, I hope elected DEMS on the hill are equally visible members of the resistance???!!!

The marching (of which I joined in with 100,000 others in Portland Oregon) was inspiring!

Is there anyone in power (fuck the DNC) with whom you think will truly take action, even at their political peril with the fascist in chief?

What we think *should* happen or *will* happen? I would like to see Dems united and fighting with every tool in their toolbox. Pick your battle? Agreed, and this is the time. Not just SCOTUS, but Trump's agenda of dismantling our government and Democracy as we know it it.

What *will* happen? Well, we're here in deep blue California being asked to contact DiFi to push her off the fence with regards to Sessions. So my hopes for Dems effectively putting up a real fight (even if they lose)? Sadly, not real high.

Yes, legally and procedurally, Senate Democrats can probably block Trump's pick indefinitely. Unless Republicans get rid of the filibuster for Supreme Court nominees, Trump's pick will effectively need 60 votes to get through, and Republicans only have 52 members.

"Unless" really being "until" unless Democrats can't hold the line on a filibuster.

There's essentially zero chance that there won't be a new justice this year.
