(2,902 posts)since long before Trump ran. We have major problems, and they started before he even ran. Of course, he has made them worse.

(11,996 posts)By trump's goofy comments (despite those reports of illegal voting by non-citizens going on for years now.)
Taking the most conservative estimate those who both
said they voted and cast a verified vote yields a confidence
interval based on sampling error between 0.2%
and 2.8% for the portion of non-citizens participating in
elections. Taking the least conservative measure at
least one indicator showed that the respondent voted
yields an estimate that between 7.9% and 14.7% percent
of non-citizens voted in 2008. Since the adult non-
citizen population of the United States was roughly
19.4 million (CPS, 2011), the number of non-citizen
voters (including both uncertainty based on normally
distributed sampling error, and the various combinations
of verified and reported voting) could range from just
over 38,000 at the very minimum to nearly 2.8million at
the maximum.

Heres what the math should look like (that is, if Richmans initial study was accuratewhich many researchers doubt). If 6.4 percent of the estimated 20.3 million noncitizens in the US voted, and if just 81.8 percent of them voted for Clinton (the percentage who voted for Obama in his 2008 study), thats an added margin of a little more than 835,000 votes. In other words: Even with all of those supposedly fraudulent ballots, Clinton still would have won the popular vote by more than 2 million votes.

(13,390 posts)The republicans are still on a mission to suppress to vote for 2018 and beyond. Also part of the agenda is to make people suspicious of immigrants. An election with incongruent resuls couldn't have been better luck for them to push that. People from all parties are incredulous about this election. It still feels bizarre to us that he could possibly win. That kind of insecurity is what is driving Trump to keep pushing his big lie about the numbers and his popularity. The republicans know it is helpful to their electoral agenda. In that sense, it's hard to tell if he is a useful idiot being instructed or if he knows the plan and is doing what he knows works. Either way it is working. While people are wringing their hands over Trump's mental health, his administration is planning investigations into elections.
