I am still shocked!
I live in Central Florida and I donated to Stephanie Murphy's campaign and got invited to a thank you thing. So I went. There were about 40-50 people there. I expected maybe Sen Nelson might be there and maybe some local dems. But boy was I shocked when Nancy Pelosi showed up too!
Nancy was awesome! I got to talk with her. Twice! And not just hi blah blah bye thanks. No! It was a real conversation. She paid attention too. I mentioned my daughter was coming and that she was coming from work, she is a nurse. Okay Nancy smiled big time and said I want to met her when she gets here. Dude, when my daughter got there, Nancy talked to her straight up. Gave her a huge hug. My daughter was totally shocked! They talked a while. Then they took a picture. Then Nancy says okay now get mom in the next one. They are on my daughters phone. And the first time we talked I gave Nancy a hug. After the picture, she gave me a hug.
I also met Sen Nelson. And of course our new US Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy.
All of them spoke. Nancy spoke her meeting with orange man and when she called him out with his lie about illegal voters (on edit. originally I said "crowd size", my bad that was just on my brain sorry.).
It was awesome night.
I will be working in some way with Rep. Murphy. She is just starting to get staff and all that. And I WILL get involved!

(2,679 posts)Sad orange man. Good lets make him sadder.
The Woman's march was way more inspiring then I thought. Maybe it was the Rocky marathon right before. I don't know. I do get actively involved. But there was one sign from the march that my brain just kept going back to. I had seen the slogan before. It's not new. But there was something about seeing at the march that clicked in my brain. I even wrote the thing on a post it, and have it posted on my monitor.
So when I got the invite to this thank you reception, I sent my rsvp, yes.
The sign said, (ain't that a song?!)
"I am no longer accepting the things I can not change. I am changing the things I can not accept."
As an alcoholic (sober 16 years), I can totally relate to that statement.
