what happens first: worldwide disaster...or...the ability of our nation to fix a catastrophic political decision.

There's no pivot to competency, there's no hidden genius just doing what it takes to win a campaign, there's no satisfaction from either party that he's really going to represent interests other than his own, there's no defense against a coupe as along as the interlopers like Putin and Breitbart are willing to tell him he's great, there's very little solace to be found in the hope that he will choose competent people as advisors (Perry, Carson, Devos, Flynn, Giullianni???).

There's literally no hoping for the best anymore, with him in office. Hillary said it in the campaign: let's believe what we see and hear from him! This is it...

Did people actually think there was "hidden genius" or the capability of a pivot? At this late date? The man mocked a handicapped guy from a podium in front of TV cameras!!!!! And that's about the least dangerous of his unhinged and completely inappropriate actions. I'm going to have to assume that the man they elected, the one acting just as he always has while now in office, is the man a significant minority of the electorate wanted to be the President. I mean, he's better than having a woman in there, right?

But the GOP loves him that way.
The Dems think they will just be called sore losers.
And the press is either too cowardly or feels too intimidated to push it as much as it needs to be pushed. (Or they're Fox)

They don't care that he's nuttier than squirrel turds. They don't give two shits that he's broken or tweaked virtually every promise he made them.

They already got what they wanted: political cover. They got permission to act like bigoted assholes, and to say that the President encourages them to do so.

There are still a few of them out there, doing their jobs. If we can afford to, support them with subscriptions.

The bigger, the better. I know media like the New York Times and Washington Post often do not pass an ideological sniff test, but now's the time to hold their feet to the fire. With money. With letters. with whatever it takes to make them do their fucking jobs.

It's pretty much all we have left, because we'll get no help from Congress or SCOTUS. That, and our own sturdy feet.

Stout hearts, indeed.

Where do you even start? Everything the guy does is simply unprofessional, alternative fact-based, petulant, etc....I think even if I was a Republican, I would probably detest Donald Trump. The president is not supposed to Tweet, I'm sorry. Especially when said tweets are ridiculous and reactionary in the first place. A president is supposed to be a stabilizing force. Trump is the exact opposite. He's a bull in a China shop and he is succeeding only at pissing everybody off, foreign and domestic. You really can't believe a word that comes out of this man's mouth. He is a stain on the presidency. I could go on and on but you all know these things. I am utterly disgusted by this man. It's hard for me to even turn on the news. I suffer from an anxiety disorder and Trump is literally making it worse. I just can't....I am in disbelief.

Whether Republican or Democrat, you can't even put Trump in the same league as ANY of our past presidents. These men would measure their words, seek advice, be....mature. Be...adults. Every day I see Trump, read about him, or hear his voice, I am disgusted. That may even be an understatement.

40 years...as long as TPTB continue to punch down, they will tolerate and use lies, smears, hate, polarization, destruction of public discourse. They will risk constitutional crises and global conflict as long as they can ensure that women are in their rightful biblical place, the vulnerable are cut off from dignity and safety nets, less deserving countries are kept low, the faithful are rewarded financially.

Dems tend to punch up, GOP punches down...The harder and more unsympathetically the better. Trump is totally willing to punch down. Loves it.
