repealed EPA regs with an EO. I'm sure if he had, we'd have heard about that by now?

Big issue in the fracking field is companies reclassifying liquid hazardous waste as proprietary fracking fluid.
In the former, a company trying to get rid of hazardous waste had to file a lot of paperwork and include an analysis of what they were dumping on the ground. In the later, the company can take the exact same fluid, slap a brand name on it, claim the formula as secret...and then pump it into the ground.
Somewhere in all this, follow the money to the oil companies.

I also suspect the coal plants come into play.

(6,385 posts)9. Coal plants - yep
IIRC, many of the largest suppliers of fracking fluid are coal plants and other mineral extraction companies that create a lot of weird runoff.
It is so screwed up.

Hope EPA scientists copied and backed up decades of climate change and other EPA data and conclusions. Because it's all going into the shredder pretty soon. The gag order is the 1st step in eliminating the EPA. Next comes laying off most off the workers, then comes Republicans refusing to fund it.

Well as environmental rules. He's trying to hide the details of why they are needed.
