"Queen of LA’s mountain

If homeless advocates were looking for a fight, then by all accounts they found it. The CCA may very well be LA’s true seat of power.

In 2010, it was reported by Los Angeles Downtown News that the CCA had a budget of $2.3 million and $1.8 million in reserves. That same year, CCA gave money to every sitting city council member, according to journalist Hillel Aron.

In 2011, Los Angeles Downtown News ranked Schatz the sixth most powerful person in downtown.

Above Schatz in ranking are people she may call friends."

State Violence Increases as Occupiers Lay Siege to Perfect Villain

http://ryanricela.wordpress.com/2012/06/22/arrests-and-terror-at-626wilshire/

"I did not go outside because I saw silhouettes of smiling cops with batons surrounding my tent. I did not go outside because I was threatened with arrest and flagged as a 'leader' in El Segundo on Tuesday at an anti-drone military-industrial complex action. I did not go outside because the day before (June 20), I was nearly taken into custody for an alleged bench warrant. IN OPEN COURT in which I WAS A WITNESS YET TO TESTIFY. The judge said, 'That reaks of witness intimidation' and wouldn’t allow it. I didn’t go outside because I heard some of the strongest comrades I know shouting in fear and uncontrollably crying in confusion and terror. The silence from the LAPD was deafening."

And Project 50 proves that doing so not only works, it saves the city money in the long run.

Go figure.

The wingnuts called it bleeding heart liberalism until that factoid was revealed, plus the saving of money. A state has to be committed to solving problems, not denying them to save money in the long term, investments must be made.

It was supported by the Catholic Diocese as a humane and dignified solution. It was a few years back. It wouldn't happen now, too many repukes loose.

How is the situation with the VA home in the Brentwood area going? Obama sent some money that way, and I think Martin Sheen or someone else got into it but I may be mixing that with another campaign. Any luck getting that bit of the commons wrested from the hands of the landed gentry/corporatists there?

Housing for homeless veterans there remains very limited, while corporations continue to lease land on VA property for their operations under VA contracts.

The land was originaly endowed to and for the use of veterans, but over the decades it became prime real estate sought after by developers. It's high-dollar property now (adjacent to Westwood and UCLA), and it is under constant assault by would-be developers who see only a lucrative opportunity--FUCK THE vETERANS.

Par for the course (and they DO already have a golf course leased on the VA property) for the patriotic ( ) 1%.

They can crack down on the homeless in many ways--like curfews and tighter restrictions on use of "public" parks--that also serve to further criminalize First Amendment protests and squelch actions of the Occupy movement.

It's win-win. YAY!

These were not occupiers.
They were not homeless people.

This thing has spiraled OUT OF CONTROL since the injunction moving them off the City Hall lawn. The crimes we have committed on tape, the prostitution, the drug dealing... its insane.

So, yeah. The article is true. Their nasty junk that has already infected two officers with Staph, has been taken. Not destroyed and trampled like every other state has done to its occupiers. Its being held, they can come get it. No LAPD violence, nothing to be mad about.

I was with this movement from day one. Its morphed, though, into an unrecognizable state.

If anyone has any questions, please, feel free. I have witnessed this hand for months now, 5 days a week.
