(BTW, neither Nixon nor Agnew was impeached.)

(54,256 posts)If they hadn't they would absolutely have been impeached.

(25,555 posts)He was charged with tax evasion. Pleaded no contest and resigned.
Now if they can find something on Pence, by all means go ahead. I don't think a VP can be impeached.

(36,466 posts)But maneuvering Pence into a position that forces him to resign would much easier and expedient.

(54,256 posts)In 1973, Agnew was investigated by the United States Attorney for the District of Maryland on charges of extortion, tax fraud, bribery, and conspiracy. He was charged with having accepted bribes totaling more than $100,000 while holding office as Baltimore County Executive, Governor of Maryland, and Vice President. On October 10 that same year, Agnew was allowed to plead no contest to a single charge that he had failed to report $29,500 of income received in 1967, with the condition that he resign the office of Vice President. Nixon later replaced Agnew by appointing House Minority Leader Gerald Ford as Vice President. The following year, when Nixon resigned from the White House due to the Watergate scandal, Ford ascended to the presidency.

(11,175 posts)If Pence were impeached and convicted, Trump would nominate a new VP, who would take office upon being confirmed by majority votes in the House and the Senate. If Trump were then impeached and convicted, his selected VP would succeed to the Presidency.
Ryan gets in only if Trump leaves office while the office of VP is vacant.

(1,685 posts)Nixon seems like he had more grace than Trump. Trump really doesn't give a shit about anything.
Trump is a nihilist sociopath. Rules never work with him.
I can't see him kicking Pence to the curb, and Pence is too much of a suckup to leave on his own. And while our American Mullah Pence might pretend to have values, he threw them out if he ever had them.
Neither of the two would resign with dignity. Neither have it in them.
Trump will resign only when he's not having fun and it's too hard.

(103,856 posts)& and we will just have to muddle through when he's elevated..and try like hell to better our position in 2018 and 2020.
It would be helpful to spend some real money in two vital ways..
