It was the only other March in this state besides the one I was at. You people would NOT believe the anger being thrown at us locals for daring to march "just to make the government pay for our abortions" according to the reps. Lots of anger from other women too. Literally read one woman post to stay home and take care of your babies and house. She has better things to do at home. It is a damn joke down here.

If they have dem parents, they're very open. Redneck hillbillies will continue to create redneck hillbillies. My family was never really political and I've always had what I call moderate values, but for the most part they turn out like their parents.

be taught to hate. My father was very racist - thank goodness I turned out to be the complete opposite. But I also didn't grow up in a rural area. I'm very sad about this us vs. them mentality. I love rural areas and rural life even though I am a city dweller and I do believe we have more things in common than not.

Black people only lived in a tiny little section of our county called "The Colony" when I was a kid which was according to my grandma where they had stayed working on the railroads back in the day. Some called it other names..some drop "The". When that community grew enough to be considered as an official town, they decided to "own" the name and kept it. To this day there are still not a lot of black people in our county. Most of them still live in Colony. Most black kids go to one school. Change is slower here. The only other "others" in this county are the Hispanics and there is a lot of anger in the area over that whole situation. I am pretty sure Alabama will never be anything but red.
All I can do is raise my kids right and hope the change spreads.

We were talking about the March, and she lowered her voice and said "Well, I can tell this to you...."
meaning she knows me well enough to know I won't repeat anything and that I am very liberal.
then she told me her grand daughter in Atlanta had joined the March with a group of women.

but as Dem as my neighbor is, she still lives by the customs of this ever so very Southern town, thus would not tell most people even tho she was proud of her grand daughter.

As you know, politics and religion are not a casually discussed subjects in these parts.

Nobody wants to be ostracized for having progressive ideas out here. You know, it feels like a desert to me sometimes, but I finally gave up and let it fly when Trump was elected. It is hard on me not having anyone I can count on so I can understand an older person not wanting to be found out.

there might be more of certain ones in certain areas but you can always find some and start organizing .
