Trump seems to be accompanied on his speaking engagements by a claque of toadies and sycophants who applaud, cheer, and generally try to appear like his audience. I don't know how many he takes with him, but we should be watching for them. It's one of the reasons he's talking about increasing the size of the White House Press Corps. If he does that, he'll be able to bring in "news" people from secondary media who he can count on to ask the questions he wants asked.
When he goes to a place like the CIA, his claque goes along with him and applauds loudly at everything he says. Since applause is contagious, that often leads to more general applause. It's an old, old technique, which Trump appears to understand pretty well.
So, Claque, Claque, Trump. We're watching.
