...took my grown son with me.
Everything aches right now, and I have to go to work in about 4 hours, so sleep...
I want to post pics and talk about it, but it'll have to wait.
But, it was HUGE. The crowd was like no other, and I was at the 'Million Man March' and every major protest since 'No Nukes' and ERA.
I've just never see that many people in D.C. for a protest. It was the stuff we dream about when we look for people to take to the streets. Peaceful and beautiful.
The actual 'march' to the WH was deliciously unorganized. Folks were so packed in they got restless and I think just started rolling out from the rally in about every direction available. The result was tens of thousands pouring out of EVERY sidestreet leading to the WH.
Trump's hotel was on the route and there were deafening roars every couple minutes or so from the passing crowd which seemed endless.
Not only were the streets packed afterward for miles, the beltway was a parking lot.
Highlight of the march had to be right at the end when folks were pouring out leaving, and Trump's motorcade roared through an intersection. I just know he could hear that crowd yelling at the top of their lungs. I'm sure it must have freaked him.
Anyhoo, sleep. See y'all tomorrow. Maybe check back to see some replies before I limp into work. Anxious to hear how it looked from the outside.

(4,671 posts)We were making our way down Pennsylvania when we saw a parade float that we thought was a parody because all I saw at first was a huge RUMP spelled out in block letters. Then I got a better view and saw the T in front. A woman was standing on the float giving a Hitler salute and a couple of guys were waving to the crowd, which was yelling SHAME SHAME SHAME! There was at least one biker alongside but I couldn't see him, only heard him. After a wonderful day of peace and love, this spectacle didn't seem to really bother anybody. But it was odd. Maybe they were hoping to start a fight and get people arrested.

(3,396 posts)and the magnitude was simply inspirational.
CNN & MSNBC chose to show Trump being uncomfortable in church. However, they did switch to the Women's March after the official Inaugural Service.
FSTV also followed the speeches with my personal favorite coming from Ashley Judd.

(226 posts)March..people were still marching after end at the White House.. was so large that many side streets filled and they couldn't go with the original march route... still don't know if media has given any coverage...saw many locals driving through the city honking horns and giving thumbs up to marchers....as they were heading to metro with signs....a long but energizing day

(3,396 posts)Speech TV was far and away the best covering the speeches live w/o talking heads.
My wife and I did not turn the TV on till 9:30pm last night, refusing to watch a single second of Trump day.
Today we watched Women's March's practically all day.
Thank you for attending, l have hope once again.
Y'all did mighty good!

(1,922 posts)Thank you and your son for going! I hope your work shift goes quickly for you, and that you don't find yourself dragging through it. But if you are bleary-eyed I'll bet you'll still say it was worth it! Get all the rest you need first, then post your thoughts and pics from the march. Looking forward to them!
