For the first time in a while. Thank you to everyone participating in and supporting these marches. It's really good to know so many of us are ready to resist.

(58,726 posts)Was a pretty dark day yesterday, and more work to come.
But a good base today.

(12,448 posts)Including the organizers. They never anticipated that the march itself would have to be cancelled because the streets were packed. Happened in DC and Chicago (so far). Over 75 countries are holding sister marches, on all seven continents including Antarctica.

(18,402 posts)Not in terms of numbers (I kind of knew it would be yuuuuuuge), but in terms of solidarity. I was frankly really bummed out after yesterday, and as we dressed to go to the March this morning (Chicago), I felt pretty hopeless. Almost thought of giving up, thinking "what good will it even do?"
But riding the train packed like sardines and marching through the streets with so many wonderful people, I felt hopeful and reinvigorated again.
My favorite chant:
Leader: When women's rights are under attack, what do we do?
Crowd: We fight back!
Leader: When LGBT rights are under attack, what do we do?
Crowd: We fight back!
Leader: When civil rights are under attack, what do we do?
Crowd: We fight back!
Leader: When human rights are under attack, what do we do?
Crowd: We fight back!
Etc.
I'm fired up, ready to go.

(5,815 posts)Has raised my hopes for the first time since election night. We can turn things around if we keep the rallies and protests going. Never give up!

I was debating with myself about whether I would post about it but you beat me to it.
It's wonderful to see the crowds that feel the way I do. It's gratifying. It's inspirational.
