1. Hayes, Reid, Maddow, O'Donnell aren't 'Fox Lite'

You know I love you but cut out this bullshit false equivalence

MSNBC has always swung right during the day. That's nothing new. Remember asmus in the morning? He was the precursor to Morning Ho.

I see folks on here claiming MSNBC is kissing trumps ass. I turn on the show they're talking about and I see O'Donnell kicking Trumps ass.

4. In a 24 hour news cycle, that's a pitifully small bone tossed at progressive viewers

to shut them up. In contrast, Fox devotes 24/7 coverage to support Republicans, plus they own rightwing hate radio to keep the deplorable well fed with fresh meaty tidbits.

Yeah, MSNBC gives us Hayes, Reid, Maddow, O'Donnell, but let's not forget all the other names they have dropped in the last couple of years. MSNBC doesn't want progressives, not really, they are a corporate run media afterall, and their agenda is diametrically opposed to they way we Democrats think.

5. In otherwords, MSNBC is not "Fox Lite"
Sat Jan 21, 2017, 12:41 PM

As Fox doesn't have a Hayes, Reid, Maddow or O'Donnell

As you point out Fox offers 24/7 support of Republicans and never questions their bullshit

Hayes, Reid, Maddow, and O'Donnell always question their bullshit.

Trust me I know all about corporate owned media and advertiser supported news. I am not arguing MSNBC is a benevolent organization.

I am pushing back on some DU'ers notions that Maddow et al are "the same" as Hannity.

They aren't.

9. They are mere tokens in MSNBC's overall 24/7 news schedule.

If the corporate powers gives up a measly 4 hours of airtime M-F to a very few left leaning commentators, they've stocked the other 20 hours with a far larger share of right leaning hosts. MSNBC isn't the same as it once was, and their corporate owners are making programming decisions that is realigning their on air slant to reflect a new image that looks an awful lot like a weaker parody of Fox news.

6. What do they sell? How do they make their money?

They sell advertising! To corporations!

Wealthy Republicans scream bloody murder (and threaten to pull their ads) anytime they perceive their party is being treated unfairly. And these days, just telling the truth is enough to set them off.

So the mainstream news sources are cowed.

8. Advertisers want to reach us, too.
Sat Jan 21, 2017, 01:01 PM

By and large, we're richer and better customers than the deplorables.

But they want to reach us via the cowed mainstream media. They know we aren't watching Fox. So they advertise on "our" channels as well.

But that doesn't mean they allow the reporters on "our" channels to report just anything they want. Oh no.

11. There business models are they are monopolies

and they are about eyeballs on their stations. Even though the "news" is 24/7, there are other things going on in the world besides one story. Obviously this is the exact opposite of the former model of the former news stations, all of them used to lose money and made it up from their other shows.

MSNBC and CNN (especially CNN) have dropped the ball so badly, they are incapable of even spending an hour a day on overseas news.

Infotainment, not news. So heart breaking.
