In a clear break with earlier new presidential administration appointees, new President Donald Trump has chosen Mexican immigrant and pharmaceutical entrepreneur Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán to run the nation's largest anti-drug organization, the Drug Enforcement Administration. "Joaquín has been a exceptional business success," said an unnamed Trump staffer, "His many years of experience running a successful operation in the competitive field of Mexican-American trade demonstrates he has the sort of leadership to manage the wide ranging border activities and highly sensitive mission of the Drug Enforcement Administration. Now that he has relocated to the United States, the Trump Administration is anxious to take advantage of his expertise."
To those who question the qualifications of the 60 year-old Sinaloan to run a branch of United States law enforcement, the unnamed source scoffed: "That's just political gainsaying from so-called anti-immigrant types. Guzmán has demonstrated he has the tough leadership skills to protect our border from other competitors, the know-how to implement complex business strategies and the reputation to impress both local Mexican and U.S. law enforcement agencies. He understands manufacturing, marketing and international trade better than anyone. We have no doubt Guzmán will turn the administration into a well-oiled machine. He knows the business, law enforcement and correctional industries inside and out."
