Romney Camp Won’t Rule Out Repealing Obama’s Immigration Move

Romney Camp Won’t Rule Out Repealing Obama’s Immigration Move

Senior Romney adviser Ed Gillespie left the door open to the possibility that Mitt Romney, if elected president, would repeal President Obama’s executive decision not to deport young undocumented immigrants in an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday.

“Every executive action that President Obama has taken will be subject to review,” Gillespie told host Candy Crowley. “In the case of this case, it will be subject to review as to whether or not it’s legal. So there’s legitimate questions about the legality of it. And everyone that he’ll take from here on forward will be subject to review and subject to repeal.”

Republicans have been raising questions over whether Obama’s action overstepped his legal authority. Pressed specifically on whether Romney would leave in place this new policy, Gillespie said, “all of these are subject to review and repeal.”

Romney himself has been vague on what he would do. ”The answer is that I will put in place my own long-term solution that will replace and supersede the president’s temporary measure,” he said on Thursday in an address at the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials conference in Orlando, Florida.
