'We're getting outspent.' OFA

For the first time in modern American history, the incumbent (that's us) will get outspent in a re-election campaign -- by some estimates as much as 3-to-1.

Over the last 10 days of this month alone, GOP outside groups will spend $20 million attacking President Obama on TV.

Think about that, then think about what they'll spend over the last 10 days in October.

We have to take this seriously. Four months to go in this election, and we have a huge fundraising deadline coming up in less than a week -- any day we're not chipping away at that disadvantage, we're falling behind.

Please donate $5 or more today.

We don't have billionaires writing $10 million checks, and right now, we can't change the laws that allow the hijacking of our democracy by private money.

What we do have is more than 2 million donors grassroots giving an average donation of $51. Every day between now and November we can combat the huge spending advantage that our opponent and his allies have over regular people.

You can do that here:

Thanks,

Stephanie

This is from the homepage: http://www.barackobama.com/

What's the message here -- we should donate so one of us out a million can meet the President and First Lady? That would be nice, but I want my money to fight GOP lies and obstructionism.

Bad idea. Why not a simple phone call?

3. I'm beginning to think they should use this to their advantage - change the spin on this.

Start publishing charts on Who is buying Mitt Romney.... with a note of what that person or group stands for.

That, of course, would mean they would have to do the same - and open themselves to attacks....
which, could also be to their benefit, if it is done with proper messaging.

They could educate the educable about just who the Koch Bros. are.
Sheldon Adelson, and what he expects in return.
Kkkarl.
Wall Street money.

And do that for our big donors, like Bill Maher

Then they could show the % of big corporate money buying each candidate vs the grassroots.

I don't think they are going to beat the corporate $$$$$ flowing into Rmoney's campaign...
so they are just going to have to find a way to use it to their advantage.

4. The fruits of triangulation

Nobody's happy. Triangulators almost always lose, but a triangulator is better than a rapacious predator - l pray that Obama is able to beat Romney.
