as long as nobody
offends me in any way;
for if I'm offended and disturbed,
unsettled and unhappy,
nervous and uncomfortable,
fearful and bewildered,
angry and outraged,
it's certainly not my fault, but theirs
for having so affected me.

People just want to feel happy and safe, but their
operating system software is very messed up.

It's not a matter of insufficient brain cells, but
that the cells are in the wrong arrangement,
working at cross-purpose to the host organism.

The upside is such people tend to go extinct, eventually.

When a brain/mind is turned against its own host:
- directing it to eat shit food
- directing it to hate and cheat and lie
- directing it to be cruel, and to hate
- directing it not to care about life
- directing it to ingest poisons daily
- directing it to ignore its innate instincts and conscience
- directing it to believe in Fear, and disdain wisdom
it tends to kill it off; and both mind and body die.

The offspring are also unhealthy, naturally, and don't
reproduce well. They are poisoning themselves to death,
body and mind.

At this point, human survival in large part may depend on
love, joy, peace, and organic food. The effect of those things
on the body and mind.

Evolution may take care of many of today's evils... I'm hopeful.

Someone is finally saying it...'
It is time to make the Christian right live up to their own standards laid out by the man they call God.
And what we need is some progressive preachers to get on the TV and educate people just what those standards are and how far away the right wing is from them.

The Muslim men who abuse women would say they are exercising their religious freedom.

Does religious freedom justify depriving women of their freedom?

If you don't approve of birth control -- and abortion, for that matter -- than don't use them or have them, if your religious convictions so dictate. Just don't dictate your religious convictions to others.

Yes, very Obama-like.

And I must say, as a Gay man, I am very pleased that Obama has been able to re-examine his own personal religious convictions and come to realize that his own personal religious convictions are just that: his own. I applaud his reappraisal of same-sex marriage.

And I applaud his statements quoted in the original post. Yes, VERY Obama-like.

There should be no "religious" tax exemption either, IMHO.

ETA: I agree 100% with this statement, however after doing some research it has become apparent that the statement has been falsely attributed to President Obama. I cannot support this OP as a result, as I do not wish to see anything demonstrably false posted as being true on DU - in particular a quote being assigned to a person who did not actually say it. Therefore I am withdrawing my rec.

In my opinion, the way Obama actually handled the issue worked out fine. As I understand it, women are covered identically as they were under the original policy.

So why the need to rewrite history, especially since the actual Obama approach was very characteristic of him?

http://www.usatoday.com/NEWS/usaedition/2012-02-09-Contraceptive-debateRECOVERED-Wed-Feb--8-163722-2012-_ST_U.htm

"We are very sensitive and understand some of the concerns that have been expressed," White House press secretary Jay Carney said. "The president takes those concerns very seriously."

Carney said Obama remains "very aware of and engaged in this issue" as the administration seeks to allay the concerns expressed by religious institutions. "We're not trying to win an argument here," he said. "We're trying to implement a policy that will affect millions of women."
