Seriously, I don't get. Why Code "Pink"? Seems like bad optics, reinforcing certain stereotypes.
Why not just call it A March for our Future..

(42,288 posts)It is a form of empowerment, to take an insult and embrace it. If you look, you'll see that it is a tactic used by many, from the "We're queer" signs of the early LGBT days to the "DeploraBall" idiots of the alt-right.
The whole pink thing is a silly constraint anyway--in the early part of the 20th century, pink was for BOY babies as a tone of red and blue was for girls in honor of the Virgin Mary (sky blue is her color).

(448 posts)That's my opinion. And I think it undercuts the broader message. I'll leave it at that.
Hope you don't mind but we will do the things we choose to do.

(31,011 posts)I do understand why it's being done. Women are taking ownership of the word and using it as a way of empowerment.
I'll still never use it myself, but I am totally with the women that choose to.

(618 posts)You could organize your own march! That's always an option.

(12,679 posts)If you're serious with a bully, they think they've won. If you treat them like the insecure babies they are, turning their weapons against them, you've won.
Taking the color "they've" decided denotes weakness and using it as a rallying point for strength and resiliency against their selfish tyranny works.
After all, Pink is just a color. We could just as well use Orange or Green.
Nothing soft and weak about the women who made (by themselves) and handed out pink pussy hats to march for miles in potential damp and cold to show they aren't the types to just roll over and be trampled. Nothingg soft and weak about the people who join Code Pink, risking beatings and jail for their activities.
If it bothers you, think of it as a "Rose Rebellion".
Like in, the "War of the Roses" those pretty, soft, sweet-smelling stereotypical feminine symbols - roses - became the symbol of one of the most treacherous, barbaric clan in-fighting in English History.
