People Are Sharing Fake Pictures Of Bikers For Trump Heading To The Inauguration

Cox said that he requested a permit from the National Parks Service for 5,000 bikers to gather at John Marshall Park on Jan. 20, Inauguration Day. The request was approved but the permit was still being processed and had not yet been issued, Mike Litterst, the spokesperson for the National Park Service, told BuzzFeed News on Tuesday.

So far, only one permit for an explicitly pro-Trump group — Let America Hear Us, Roar for Trump! — has been issued for 20 people. Another pro-Trump permit requested by Travis Thompson Biker for 5,000 people to support Trump on Jan. 20 is currently being processed.

A permit for the most number of demonstrators so far — 50,000 — was issued for the American Constitution Society, a progressive organization.

However, several pro-Trump accounts on social media are using pictures and videos that falsely claim to show large groups of bikers on their way to the inauguration in Washington.

This photo shared by several Trump supporters, including a popular Daily Mail columnist, that claimed to show Bikers for Trump headed to Washington for the inauguration has been circulating since 2013.

And a YouTube video titled Bikers for Trump DC Bound 2017 — which has more than 50,000 views so far — appears to be a video of a bike run for the Marine Toys for Tots program in Louisville, Kentucky.

Trump himself has fallen for this fake news, judging by his comments at the dinner last night:

“I saw the Bikers for Trump — boy they had a scene today. I don’t know if I would want to ride one of those, but they do like me,” he said. “That’s like additional security with those guys, and they’re rough. And they get on that Harley — usually (a) Harley — made right here in America. And they had a scene today where they had helicopters flying over a highway someplace in this country. And they had thousands of those guys coming into town.”

As usual, Trump was so incoherent it was hard to tell exactly what he was talking about, but my best guess is that he's seen the photos and video online, the old stuff being recycled with claims these are current photos of his supporters.

Although I don't know a lot of bikers, I know two bikers in their 60s who are going for the Bikers For Trump group, although she has been posting anti-Trump stuff for months. Now she's all hopped up to go to DC. Maybe it's more a social thing for them. I can't figure it out.

"Packs, Leathers and Vaseline" This sounds like they're planning a group S&M thing at the inauguration.
