Amtrak tickets to DC sold out for Sat. Jan 21, but not for the inauguration on Friday, Jan 20.

so says my friend who works for Amtrak. Plenty of availability for that inauguration!

Saturday is the women's march day. Outbound headed north is sold out for Sunday, Jan. 22.

Bus permits were way off, too, with only about 200 requested from DC for the Trump inauguration, 1200 for the protest the next day. Obama's first inaugural required 3000 permits for buses.

a few weeks ago and there were none to be had. I was arriving in Phil late on the 19th, planned to spend the night and take the Amtrak to DC on Friday.. no tickets. Changed to an earlier flight, arriving in Phil around 3, taking the 6 pm train to DC on the 19th.

If we can't get into DC we will swing over to the sister march in Arlington. The buses from Richmond fill up in a few hours once announced. The train that gets to DC at about 11am still had seats as of this morning & it's about a 10minute walk to the site of the protest. Since it runs until 1pm that might be an option to at least attend some of it.

That's my birthday, and that was my present. We're taking the train on the 20th but luckily don't arrive in time for Cheeto's big minute.
