With just four days left until President-elect Donald Trumps inauguration, scalpers are rushing to sell the remainder of their inauguration tickets and theyre having a hard time doing so, the New York Daily News reports.
Yossi Rosenberg, a 36-year-old Democrat who voted for Hillary Clinton, told the outlet that he had purchased two tickets to Fridays inauguration from a woman in Westchester County who sold them for $700. Rosenberg thought he would be able to sell them on the secondary market for at least double the price, but the task has proven difficult.
Nobody wants to buy them, he said. It looks like Im stuck with them, I might even have to go. Rosenberg purchased the tickets thinking they would be in demand. He told the Daily News, I got offers before I got them, but then I get them and everybody balked.
After receiving no interest in the tickets, Rosenberg advertised the tickets on white supremacist websites, according to the Daily News. There was no interest there either.

(9,114 posts)What a miserable failure he is, in every way. The 'great showman', can't get anyone to come see his biggest show without paying them.
Par for the course, in terms of repug 'leadership' offerings.

(50,561 posts)If you go to the ignoration website, the "tickets" you can get for free are commemorative and "suitable for framing." (Preferably in a frame styled to look like prison bars.) You need no tickets to get into the ignoration and the parade.

(4,900 posts)This was a term coined by sports handicapper Pete Axthelm back in the 1980s. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pete_Axthelm
The "broken windshield game" was this...take two tickets to a particular game between two really poor teams (we'll go with 2016 Cleveland Browns vs San Francisco 49ers) and you put them on the dashboard of a car located in the parking lot of the stadium where the game is going to be played.
You then leave the car for a few hours. When you come back, the windshield will be broken and FOUR MORE tickets will be sitting on the dashboard next to the two tickets you put there.
Yossi, you have tickets to a "Broken Windshield Inauguration". Feel free to park a car in DC and place those two tickets on the dashboard. You'll soon have more that you won't be able to sell.

(28,080 posts)who, when I was coat shopping, tried to push an Ivanka Trump number on me and, when I gave her "a look", said "We can't give those away." (and, to be honest, it was not a bad looking coat, but I was heartened to hear people weren't buying - and this was before the election.)

(81,365 posts)I noticed a lot of her stuff is of the "knockoff" variety - a cheaper version of some haute couture item, changed ever so slightly to avoid accusations of outright plagiarism.
There was a side-by-side comparison I once saw of a pair of high-heeled sandals that were almost-but-not-quite identical to a really high-end pair, but the tassels on the end of the ankle laces was ever-so-slightly smaller than on the pricey pair. As I recall, it was a magazine feature on "how to get the haute couture look for less".

(11,686 posts)I hear they are expecting 7,000 inauguration attendees and 3,000 protesters. I would laugh my ass off if the numbers got turned around and they got 3,000 attendees and 7,000 protesters. In my wicked way I am hoping for that...sweet revenge.

(15,286 posts)I was at Clinton's 1992 inauguration. Anyone can go and stand on the Capitol grounds to see the ceremony and then stay for the parade, but you need tickets for the indoor events. I'm sure that's what this guy bought and now can't unload.

(9,771 posts)and, "This ticket does not admit to Capital Building." If these tickets are legit, entry to certain outdoor areas is restricted to those with tickets. Probably given out for free, but being scalped, or attempted anyway.
There's a high res image at the link below (I guess DU has restrictions on large image files displaying in posts, so you'll have to click to see it.)

(15,286 posts)In 92 I was an early arrivee and was near the front of the regular crowd, but there was snowfencing/bike racks up separating the open viewing area and the area much closer to the ceremony. You needed to have tickets to get to the really good seats/views.
