...Supreme Court strikes down ACA, you can bet the phones in every congressman's office will be ringing off the hook so they can receive their new instructions immediately. They have a backup plan already in the can and if the mandate or the whole thing is struck down, by the late afternoon or evening of that day, I guarantee you will be hearing about whatever the next move is and the legislation will be enacted quicker than you can sneeze.

The health care industry does not fuck around. They are not that dumb bully you dimly remember in high school, they are not your shitty, greedy boss. They are as finely honed as any fighting force on earth and at the ready to protect their interests. They strategize, anticipate and act.

The deed will already be done and people will still think there is some uncertainty about what's going to happen next. It's going to go down quicker than the Patriot Act after 9/11. That's my prediction.

I highly recommend watching the Frontline episode entitled Obama's Deal.

Congress, the President have little defense against the kind of raw pressure these companies can exert. This fact, mixed with a political desperation on Obama's part to bounce back and save face before the elections is going to mean a lightning bolt of legislation.

5. Obama is a first - and has been subjected to a lot of 'firsts'

and not good ones -ie: first time the damn GOP threatened to shitcan the economy over raising the budget ceiling; first time a challenger for the Presidency outraised an incumbent (thank you very little Citizens United); first time a big stink has been raised over the President's birthplace....just to name a few.

EDIT: oh. And the first time Congress has held the AG in contempt AFTER the President declared Executive Privilege.
