The Mood Of The Country Is Akin To The Mood Just Before The Civil War.

In the end we are going to erode into the kind of sectarianism that ripped Ireland. There is no way to live together going forward. The GOP is already telling Democrats to "fall in line" or else. We are near having political war. And I hate to feel that way, but based on some of the response to Lewis and other dissent Trump and his minions are saying that resistance or even being tolerated will be NO different than their hatred of LGBTQ.

What I have said is how I read it. I just despise their rhetoric and their intentions. I can feel the hate coming from Trump himself.

...going back to older, less civilized ways, where the majority party governed and the minority party listened and had zero power. Courtesy of Republicans, and we should extend them the same courtesy (ie none) the next time around.

The Civil War? The main disagreement there was enslavement of fellow humans (despite attempts at revisionist history later). It would seem silly for us to get into a shooting war over our present differences. I think there is still hope for us to work things out through the political process.

That was ugly shit. Many people who live far from the big cities are itching for race riots to once again break out. I'm sure they get excited at the thought of watching all the action on faux "news". Assholes.

No hope of a reconciliation. This can only end badly. I am afraid you are right.

Welcome to the US from 1830 - 1890. Only now the Nativist Know Nothings are completely in charge.

Citing Ireland-- really? The Troubles were not exactly their finest era -- and it is not 100% over even now.

We've got enough troubles of our own without invoking Northern Ireland or the Hutus and the Tutsis.

and they are going to push until they get either or. Although their tunes will change once we fight back because they are cowards at heart.

But talking is going to be pretty much useless with these Fascist bastards in charge.

We're done.

Fold the tents.

Pack up the trucks.

The circus is over.
