It's June. The new interns are working at your favorite local TV news station.

It happens every year, right after the local college or university ends the semester. Out go the old interns and in come the new ones from the Journalism Department. The old interns seem to think they should get paid after a year of giving it up, it seems. Say goodbye to the video being somehow related to what the news readers are saying. Watch the field reporter talking on a dead mic. Closed captioning becomes an exercise in figuring out the misspelled words. Somewhere, it's forecast to be 775 degrees with possible showers tomorrow.

How quickly it passes...things settle down...and then it's June again, and the next batch of unpaid workers shows up.

Local TV news is a cartoon in June.
