..in Colorado Springs. It's not even noon yet and it is 95 degrees...so we may make it?
Anybody else getting hot weather?

(34,179 posts)And it is going to continue to be dry, dry, dry.
Just finished putting in a new mailbox post. Dug down a bit over two feet, and the ground was bone dry all the way down.

(37,573 posts)but I am not sure we are gonna make it today. Right now at 1:15 it is only 76, partly cloudy and it just got done raining again. I think it will be lucky to break 90.

(46,436 posts)Yesterday's high was 73, sunny, blue skies. Today promises to be about the same. Days like this make enduring the winter all worthwhile.
We'll be in Colorado next week. Try to cool it down a bit before we get there, okay?

I love where I live ....
I hate you. I scorched the bottom of my feet running outside to catch the cat. The pavement doesn't just cook eggs...it cooked my feet .
Okay, I like you, because Portland is supposedly a great place to live, and I don't begrudge you that
Yes,here in NW Arkansas high in the 90's but that is typical weather for us this time of year..what is killing us is the drought.

(17,046 posts)today forecast 100... then 102 to 103 for the rest of next week. It's normal for this time of year. I still hate it though.

(163,986 posts)It was so bad, we finally broke down and got an air conditioner for my studio after 18 years of making do. It was an average of 15 degrees above historical temps here.
Today and the next few days are supposed to be cool and cloudy and man, not a minute too soon.

(111,305 posts)It hasn't done that in several years and I don't like it when it does.
I hate extreme heat. I'd far rather be cold, I can always put more stuff on. I've been soaking my hair and letting that cool me off most afternoons.

(4,787 posts)the thermometer temp was in the high 90's. The two days were like that with hours of 100+ effective temps but now it's in the low '80's.

(15,806 posts)Northern Colorado, east of the fire. Yesterday it was 103, we're supposed to match that today. I don't even want to imagine what the "hot months" are going to be like. . .

A hot time in Colorado.

The Deep South is horrible in August, and this feels like August already since it has been so hot already this year. I'd imagine we will have people stroking out by the end of July if we don't have heat warnings.

And I should say that I was dumb enough to do so, and even now the bottom of my feet feel like they have been scorched.

(39,961 posts)I ran out after the cat when she bolted. She's longhaired, indoor and old (15 years) and has no business outside.
I hit the concrete in the sun after "rescuing" miss Contessa the princess kitty and I could practically hear my feet sizzle.
It's HOT.
Motown_Johnny
(22,308 posts)but it started cooling down yesterday and it is nice and cool now.
We had days in March when it hit 85. Then it was 95 for Memorial day and then we had 4 days in a row above 90 for the first day of summer.
Late July and early August may be a real issue if this trend continues.
HeiressofBickworth
(2,682 posts)but it's raining here just north of Seattle (LOL). It's been chilly and raining off and on all week. I kicked the thermostat up a few notches because we shampooed carpets this morning and they need to dry out. Now that that chore is done, I'm here at the 'puter with a pot of tea, just kickin' back. What are you guys in the heat doing today?
kestrel91316
(51,666 posts)That makes me ill just thinking about it - it's completely abnormal to EVER get that hot there. The entire 8 years I was in Ft Collins (and my folks were in the Springs) I think I saw a grand total of 3 nights (all in August) where a fan in the bedroom would have been nice, and daytimes were muggily uncomfortable (a tad over 90F).
Of course, we are having the third weirdly moderate June in a row here in Lost Angeles. Mid-80's for the next week still, then it MIGHT get up into the 90's. And this is the time of year when 115F+ is not unusual.

At least it's thinning out the trees, and they grow back much slower than our chaparral here.

(10,720 posts)...its been yet another cold spring/summer here in Oregon so far, the third year in a row. I think two days so far this year I've headed to work without a coat (commute by bike). Highs in the 50's again today.

(62,276 posts)I'd rather be hot than cold any day. The fires here, though, are historical, beyond imagination. An entire city of 650k is watching the mountains burn. This has never happened before to my recollection. It's crazy.
