Get ready for an onslaught of bills making fertilized eggs real people. Indiana is leading the way to give all fertilized eggs legal rights under and state law. Such a law would make all pregnancies that end early investigatable and doctors subject to wrongful death charges. Such laws would also complicate legal heir law and a host of other laws.

Assuming that such a law includes fertility clinics every egg that is fertilized and frozen would have to be implanted. And the loss of any fertilized egg would have to be investigated as a suspicious death. So whoever lost that egg could be charged with murder.

Add contraception to the mix. All forms of contraception could become illegal and subject participants to charges because under the law contraceptive practices would be viewed as abortion.

We are entering a really new territory of criminal law.
