Nothing says they have to, but they want to make it clear they hope for the siccess of the nation, no matter how they feel aboit the new guy. Personally, I don't think I could be that generous.

"They don't want to look like sore losers" we've been told. Well how about this: By attending they make it look like DC is just a private club where politicians say mean things about each other during elections just to appease the masses, but where they all know it's just BS and they're all actually pals.
