We tend to assume that it is only Democrats that bear this anxiety and fear of the future. I think that may be a misplaced assumption.
I think it is very possible, even probable, that many Republicans feel the same fear and anxiety. Recent polls, that show Donald Trump with the lowest approval ratings of any President-elect ever, would indicate that this might be the case.
If true, it would portend a Republcan backlash of a magnitude dependent on the length of time that Donald Trump is at the head of their Party. The longer they keep him around, the more they will suffer at the polls.
If this theory is valid, Democrats would be wise to put on a full court press to try and take back the House in 2018. If many Republicans are as disturbed for our country as many Democrats, then the turnout for Reoublicans in the next election could be their lowest turnout ever. This could create an opportunity for Democrats to reclaim the House and protect our government from the vandals bent on destruction.

(10,903 posts)They'll blame all the bad policies on him, and declare themselves heroes for getting rid of him.
Next, they'll blame Democrats for "not doing enough" and people will believe them.
In other words, they'll act just like they always have and manage to survive.
