... But don’t know quite what to say, please allow me to offer the following suggestion. As with any correspondence of this nature, be professional and respectful (even if they turn your stomach otherwise) as any ranting or raving will only get tossed in the trash.

Tailor the suggestions below to your needs and edit out what does not apply to you. I'm sure there are other alternatives to the suggestion below, but it's a place to start; so feel free to adapt it to your own needs.

Given that Donald Trump is now the President, it is an undeniable fact that our country will undergo many challenges in the upcoming future.

With that in mind, I (or we) respectfully urge you to uphold the highest traditions of your office and your sworn oath to the U.S. Constitution. Always remember that your first obligation is to the well being of the American people, not to lobbyists or special interests. You have a sworn duty to govern fairly and reasonably without deference to one group over another.

I (or we) expect you to hold this new president fully accountable for his acts of commission or omission and to vote on Bills (or Resolutions) that benefit our country as a whole and only after honest and open deliberation.

As my (our) elected representative, I expect you to vote on funding Bills (or Resolutions) for the budget that are reasonable and support the health of our nation. I urge you not to support Bills (or Resolutions) which deprive citizens of their Constitutional Rights, Health or Civil Rights.

Senator ______ (or Congressman or Congresswoman ___________), you have been elected to a position of high authority in our government. It is your duty and obligation to abide by the laws of our country and to make no laws which abridge the freedoms we are all provided; I (we) expect you to uphold your duty with honor and integrity.

If you take the time to type out an email/letter, save it! I have one file with the text of my emails/letters to my reps. Their addresses are at the top, & then the latest letter is next. I got a little complacent during the Obama years, but I have a feeling the file is going to get quite 'fat' this next couple of years.

Also, mail going to Congress' DC address will take much longer than mail to a local office.

We need to make our voices heard! Trump tried to take credit for the House baking off that ethics thing a few weeks ago, but it was the voice of The People that made them back down, not Don the Con.
