I saw Rep. Richmond on AM Joy, and he said he would decide this week. I bet many of the Cong. Black Caucus will boycott it.

(70,388 posts)except that nobody that is paying attention would take that bet.

Wonder what that fellow is thinking today...

(9,866 posts)Apart from taking a stand against racism, against sexism, for the environment, for Obama's legacy, it would really help embolden our Reps for the fight we're in for the next 4 to 8 years.
How can they go---and shake hands, and smile and clap for the cameras? She won the popular vote---the country is more unified if they know what we clearly stand for and will fight for.

(3,012 posts)At this point, it would look like serious poor-loserism if they didn't attend.
Of course, I would encourage both to wear latex gloves if asked to shake hands with Drumpf.

(1,752 posts)do think they're going to shift gears and praise her for being a good sport? NO!! They will find things to criticize, or if all else fails - then just flat out make up stuff.

(11,087 posts)"Oh, I don't want to look like a poor loser" looks like weakness. Go ahead and offend him. And encourage others to defy him. That's where the fun is.

(1,752 posts)post a Fox link on DU.... but the audio clip can be easily found by googling Alan Colmes Gutierrez
He really laid out the rationale for not legitimizing DT by attending.

(11,087 posts)I say lots of people should say they will go and then not show up, with the goal of leaving Donald with a sea of empty bleachers. And performers should all call in sick (koff, koff) at the last minute, so his panicky staff doesn't have time to book replacements.

(1,397 posts)My daughter -- mid-40's, single, partner in big DC law firm, raised $250K for Obama in 2012, $500K for Hillary -- is skipping to London because she can't tolerate being in DC during the Trump shitshow.
She'll miss the Women's March, however, she has paid for two buses from eastern Virginia plus giving each lady on the two buses $100 cash for spending money.
Wife and I will spend urinaugural day at a local wildlife area birdwatching then joining friends for food and booze.

(409 posts)I've been a District resident for almost 10 years and made plans over a month ago to spend the weekend in Manhattan. It's been exasperating enough watching this unfold and having our city attacked when we don't even have a real voice in Congress to represent us.
