Who is going to save us? Seriously.

I'm scared, and I get more frightened each time I read a headline about the Trump corruption.

I'm tired of feeling afraid. I'm getting active. I have my reps' phone numbers in my contacts list and I'm making calls. I hope to attend the women's march next weekend. I'm doing all the things that I can that have been suggested one do to resist Trump.

But I just gotta ask. Who is going to save us? At what point (if ever) will the generals, the military or the Congress or an individual stop this? What if Trump uses a nuclear weapon? Will anyone possibly be smart enough to disobey an order from him? What about firing on protestors? Will there be anyone willing to say no to an order from a Commander-in-Chief who is so obviously crazy?

Any thoughts, DU?

Sitting around waiting and wishing for some savior to appear on the scene is what got us in this mess in the first place. Do what you can to oppose, resist, and replace these criminals with decent, honest representatives who work at serving to benefit their constituents; not just their wallets. If the most you can do is tell your family and friends that Trump is a traitor and a criminal - do that!

and that is an ethical sense of morality. Too many people with greedy, bigoted, motivations have abandoned valueing people above valueing the pursuit of money. That's why we have criminals running our state and federal governments. It's the disease of "me first" and "what's in it for me?" mentality. They have forgotten and abandoned the Golden rule about treating others as you want to be treated. So remind your family and friends to remember the Golden rule.

Keep on top of what the Trump regime is doing as much as you can. Call him out on his never-ending bullshit. We have to save ourselves.

Eventually he'll bury himself. His hubris will do him in. We can help that process along by letting this new government know that they can't get away with just doing whatever they want.

I emailed our brand-new (Republican) congressman yesterday and asked, politely, why he voted to cut coverage for birth-control from the ACA, checked box that I wanted a reply.

In today's newspaper, read that said congressman was one of handful who did not follow Rep. party line in voting to demolish ACA without a substitute plan in place. I wrote him a congratulatory email, pointing out that our district had a long tradition of sending moderate Repbulicans to congress and hoping he would be part of that tradition. And thanked him for his compassionate vote.

I plan to stay on top of him and his votes. At the very least, my emails will add to the pile representing our POV; at best, I'll be able to develop a real relationship with this guy and by not being confrontational maybe maybe maybe help influence his thinking.

I'm also considering going back into very, very local politics myself. I used to be a committeeperson and may run for that office again next local election.

His excesses and blunders are already re-animating the liberal movement in this country. Keep doing exactly what you're doing---making calls, participating in demonstrations, etc. In the end, that sort of activity, on a wide scale, is what defeated the generals and right-wing politicos as far as the Viet Nam conflict was concerned. It happened before, it can happen again.

Thank you for your inspirational actions. Keep up the good work.

We are the only ones who can. I'm not talking about political parties. They are (or should be) irrelevant to this fight. It is all hands on deck, whatever their personal ideology.

Keep mocking Trump, keep egging him on on Twitter, keep posting all the secret dossiers showing him to be a sleaze and maybe a traitor. Protesting his every move. He HATES that. He hates it so much, he will have a meltdown in public somewhere (I hope), maybe even at the inauguration.

We do have to be careful, especially the protesters. He might use the military or National Guard to really hurt people, although they can refuse to obey an unlawful order like that (but I don't know if they will). Any pictures of such an attack, however, will thoroughly discredit the Trump administration. I'm not advocating people putting their lives at risk of they do not want to, but it will serve the greater good, ultimately.

Asked you a question
I didn't need you to reply
Is it gettin' heavy?
But they'll realize
Is it gettin' heavy?
Well, I thought it was already as heavy
As can be
Is it overwhelming
To use a crane to crush a fly?
It's a good time for Superman
To lift the sun into the sky
'Cause it's gettin' heavy
Well, I thought it was already as heavy
As can be
Tell everybody
Waitin' for Superman
That they should try to
Hold on
Best they can
He hasn't dropped them
Forgot them
Or anything
It's just too heavy for Superman to lift

By marching, and making calls, and organizing rallies and seminars and gatherings. And writing here, and in letters to the newspapers.

I remember all the violence surrounding the Vietnam protests. Nixon was equally as unscrupulous, equally as prone to acting like a dictator as Trump. But the country survived Nixon, and a civil war, and another civil war over slavery.

"Leave My Blues At Home"

I been trapped inside four walls, feel like I can't call to no one
ah, way out on the outside.
Well livin' alone is easy, but too long just don't seem really
quite the thing to do, no.
Think I'll drink up a little more wine, to ease my worried mind.
And walk down on the street, and leave my blues at home. All behind.
The landlord is on my line, I can't get no peace of mind.
But I know there's something better.
I can't stay and I can't run, can't keep waitin' for someone
to find and go roll.
Well I'll gather up all my four leaf clovers.
Don't leave, I'm on my way over.
A walk down on the street, and leave my blues at home. All behind.
And I feel I have to scream
whenever I get the notion.
And though I try so hard,
I can't hold back my emotions.
But I... love you, but I can't have ya. Won't you sit by my side.
You don't work, the man don't pay ya.
There ain't no saint to come and save ya, oh, puttin' your toll down.
Well, if you ride you pay the fare... with Satan on your back.
And he don't care where you come from or where you goin'.
And before I get myself all down, I jump up and kick the door down.
And walk down on the street, and leave my blues at home. All behind.

I've always believed that any foreign powers' best chance to gain control of the US was to gain control of the Democratic Party! I say this because Democrats have always seemed more open and receptive to new ideas and people.

Well, next week, the head of our government will be a man who has been showing for the last several months that he has mental health issues. Trump will clearly be under the influence of a foreign power and the only ones fighting for us will be the outnumbered, overly polite Democrats... I don't feel good about our future as a nation, society with the republicans in charge of the executive, legislative and judicial branches. All free-thinking Americans are phucked now!

Republicans have no SHAME and no FEAR!

http://wsbt.com/news/nation-world/trump-unleashes-twitter-attack-against-congressional-critic-john-lewis

"You know, I believe in forgiveness. I believe in trying to work with people. It will be hard. It's going to be very difficult. I don't see this president-elect as a legitimate president," Lewis said in an interview with NBC's "Meet the Press" that is set to air Sunday.

"I think the Russians participated in helping this man get elected. And they helped destroy the candidacy of Hillary Clinton," Lewis said.

That said, a movement needs leadership & the Democratic Party is in the best position to start it. If they want to give The People any hope that there is an opposition party left in this country, they need to use Lewis' words as a rally cry. But will they?

If this situation were reversed, & there were these kinds of irregularities in the election of a dem president, the GOP would be the biggest, nastiest, investigative, obstructive fucks on the planet.

We are about to put a man in one of our highest offices, who is horribly compromised in so many ways it's stunning in scope.

I just wonder if all of us can figure that out in time. For example, as I noted in the OP - can someone refuse to launch a nuclear missile or shoot into a crowd of protestors when ordered. Would someone - anyone - have the sense and the guts to refuse to participate and/or stop such madness? Would enough people refuse? Would enough people stand up when lives are on the line? I'd like to think so, but I'd be lying if I said I was sure.

I sincerely hope there are enough of us with enough moral fiber left to do what we can.
