comparing this man to any other person on earth, equating him w any human being who talks in complete sentence is
!!!!!NORMALIZING HIM!!!!!!
just stop it. i understand what a horrible human being pence is, and that he will hold the door open for the same pack of ravening sleazebags as that man.
i understand that we are in for a shit show for the ages either way.
but really people. the difference is one of orders of magnitude.
stop forgetting that.
i am begging you.

(70,150 posts)this man must be impeached if we are ever to hold our head up again as a nation. that is how bad he is.
if pence is that bad, he will get citizen pushback and the other levers of constitutional control. we can defend against him w lawyers.
yes it will still be a shit show.
but-ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE.

FIFTY GOD DAMN YEARS if Trump doesnt blow us up first, all just so the private server woman wouldnt be president.
Talk about irresponsible ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE.

(30,481 posts)Also demeanor. He will be able to do a lot more than Trump including the continued stacking of the deck across all departments. Their brutality against those who need protections most will come with a warm hug and smile.
That said, I'm starting to think we might see an early impeachment and I'm happy as could be about it. Any impeachment would damage Republicans and take away some of their clout. I would rather have Pence than Trump after impeachment. Pence on his own merits I'm not good with. Nothing in my comments go against the joy I would feel if Trump was impeached.

(43,185 posts)President Pence would not be pleasant at all, but at least I think with him we'll still have a functioning democracy in 2020 where we can send him packing. Plus the stink of Trump on him is going to be major.
Donald Trump has no concept of being able to work in a democracy and is seriously mentally dysfunctional. He is the worst case scenario.

And save your protestations... I didn't say Pence and Hillary are equivalent. It's the same silly, lazy thinking though. Just our side's version of it.

Pence is awful, but Trump is one of the worst tragedies ever to hit this nation, and the psychic wounds caused by this despicable human being will be felt for a long time. He's simply the worst of the worst, anywhere. Ever

(27 posts)It seems like just a little over 2 years ago we were living in 2014, where the idea of such an unacceptable buffoon being in any position of government power was a complete joke to everybody, on both sides of the aisle.
Normalization is an interesting topic.
It seems as if we are truly living life upside down at this point.

(5,477 posts)tRump will be cluelessly stumbling through the motions of being Pee-OTUS. Pence has some government experience and knows how the system works, knows where some of the bodies are buried, and can put pressure on certain people where it counts.
tRump has zero government experience and will make major (and extremely dangerous) blunders, but Pence can do as bad, if not worse, by design instead of it being just a fluke.

(7,770 posts)Pence is a religious nutwack. Trump is a pure sociopath who I almost fear would bring down everyone with him and not give a shit. A man that asks "If we have nuclear weapons why can't we use them?" America can recover from Pence, I'm not sure about Trump.
(also Trump doesn't even have a pet-the man has nothing he actually loves but himself, even Hitler loved dogs as we know)

(38,321 posts)... but he's a knob. If he wasn't someone who could be easily manipulated by the Republican puppet masters they wouldn't have accepted him as their candidate for Vice President. He's the party's "Plan B" if Trump crashes and burns.
I think George W. Bush was the modern Republican Party's ideal President. He signed the papers they put on his desk, and he didn't get into too much trouble. They almost certainly had some major dirt on him, just in case, but I'll bet he didn't cause them any serious trouble.
Maybe it's just me, but I find it as painful to watch Pence as it is to watch Trump. Pence gets this look when he says certain things, like he knows they've got him by the balls. George H. W. Bush would look similarly pained at times.
Republican Presidents are part of the team, whether they like it or not.
One of the joys of Obama and Biden is that they are actually leaders, not face men. There's nobody behind the curtain making tough decisions for them.
