WHY AM I HERE ON DU? Hmmm, Not many responses to anything of late. I went thru hours of work tonight

Pulling together all the Interrupting Neil Munro pics and dating / identifying them, much more than I thought it would take.

That's 175 pictures from DU alone, in the absence of a topic blog, I don't think it's been picked up on by any other social media sites yet.

Should I bother putting the pics on this Tumblr page for all DUers to enjoy?

Or should I assume it'd get little response here on DU, in which case it's not worth the effort?

I now have them all assembled and ready to go, which, again, took me 10 hours of work on a Friday night. I even sorted them.

Depending on how much feedback this gets, I will / won't make the effort.

If this thread gets hardly no feedback like most of my posts of late, but one person
volunteers to help, I will make the effort and give them access to the Tumblr page.

Keep in mind I never bothered to use Tumblr in the past for anything but looking up these
sort of meme pics, so anyone who's never used Tumblr has only slightly less experience than I.

Alternately, if one (or more) persons volunteer to reblog it from Tumblr to other sites,
and [font color="grey"]pimp the-[/font]publicize the links accordingly, I'll make the effort. There might be enough
images from many different people to qualify for a page on Know Your Meme.

that is, if it's picked up by any other blogs... and the Tumblr is needed to archive the pics
so people can easily find them.

19. The thing is, Tumblr is good for archiving meme-pics.

They can be resized using the blog's own interface, and re-posted on Facebook, and image-linked on Twitter.

Facebook and Twitter are difficult (impossible?) to use for image galleries unless you have an off-site link to
a single-topic blog, such as Tumblr or Blogspot, where the images are kept.

Meaning you can then send people a single link.

Admittedly most of the stuff on Tumblr is dross, but that's true of most blog aggregators.

If you want we can use Blogger instead, since their image resizer is even better, but I already started the
Tumblr so...

22. I went over to the Tumblr website when it was first brought up

and it looked like a high end graphic art site more than a place for our fun and games.

Like I said, I'm all for posting them everywhere and if you think they'll get more notice there, go for it.

Frankly, I'm surprised they didn't get noticed on Maddow as I thought her writers lurk here and the snark was right up her alley. Also the Huffington Post didn't pick it up on it either and even Bartcop didn't feature any.

By now, the guy is old news. It was literally a 15 minutes of fame thing.

It was worth it though because it offered people here a good laugh after the bad news in Wisconsin.

23. You're lucky. Most of the criticism of Tumblr is that it's decidedly lowbrow

I think it is worth it because memes only work if they have a life of their own. Sure it might be reblogged by Maddow but that is because they are funny, not because the guy is still newsworthy. The people who are most likely to reblog exploitable caption pics are people who know little about politics (and maybe learn something along the way). With a proper meme, the joke sells itself after seeing a few examples. Most people don't know who this guy is, for example.

HiPoint, it's not about popularity, it's simply about time well spent.
I got other work to do that will soon (if I'm lucky) take up most of my time online.

I thought it was a very funny thread and I always appreciate the talent of DU members as I appreciate the intelligence and savvy. It's the reason I'm here. I always learn things here that I would never hear or read about anywhere else. I love the diversity and the range of subjects and interests here.

I can move an individual post to the top once it's posted, however. I just can't reorder them all back to front.
