en. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), President-elect Donald Trumps pick for attorney general, doubled down Tuesday in calling the Voting Rights Act intrusive and struggled to say how he would enforce the law going forward.
It is intrusive. The Supreme Court on more than one occasion has described it legally as an intrusive act, because youre only focused on a certain number of states, Sessions said of the act in response to a question from Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.). Normally when Congress passes law it applies to the whole country. So its a very unusual thing for a law to be passed that targets only a few states, but they had a factual basis.
Sessions added that the act changed the whole course of history, mainly in the South.

Hey asshole, it targeted THOSE states because those were the states that put in Jim Crow laws, and after the 2013 SC decision to remove a key provision of the voting rights act, those states were only too willing to add voting restrictions targeting mostly people of color. It also embolden those states that were NOT impacted by the voting rights act to add restrictive vote requirements. It included states such as Ohio, Wisconsin, North Carolina and others.

(16,110 posts)if by intrusive you mean it forces states to allow ALL of their citizens to vote not just the ones who match whatever color palette you would prefer.
I'm getting tired of these assholes.
I am also cursing a lot more than I did before the election.
