Some of you have seen my nagging posts about temporarily using the upside down American flag as your avatar. Our flag inverted is not a sign of disrespect. It is a signal of distress.
Over the past week, I've asked DUers to use this avatar as a symbol of protest. Yeah, I know it won't make a dent in the big scheme of things, but it's the bare minimum we can do.
There are about a quarter of a million registered DUers and some are well known people/writers who could/would mention it elsewhere. Imagine if DU displayed many thousands of inverted flag avatars on Inauguration Day. And imagine if one of Trump's evil elves heard of it. We would end up on his "enemies list." And all of us could always wear that as a badge of honor.
I miss my Eiffel Tower avatar and I will return to it. But right now, an inverted American flag avatar is appropriate. Many used it during the Bush/Cheney Iraq insanity. It might be even more appropriate now.
Please, please join in. And please, please mention to other DUers whenever possible. I can't spread the word alone.
