Alt-Right "Mafia" Using Digital Brownshirt Tactics To Hijack Progressive Groups

.

http://crooksandliars.com/2017/01/alt-right-mafia-using-digital-brownshirt

Recently, I've been made aware of a group of miscreants on Facebook calling themselves the Catena Mafia. According to my sources, they've been responsible for hacking into multiple Democratic and Progressive supporting groups, posing as like-minded liberals until they are able to socially engineer their way into being made admins of the groups.

Once they're in - they add all 26 of their friends as admins, lock out the original admins and change the group to something... not what it was originally intended to be.

The largest target I've been able to identify to this point has been the vandalization of "Proud to be a Democrat" - which was a popular progressive group. It was renamed by the Catena Mafia to "Proud to Call Trump My President" - taking its membership from over 30,000 down to around 12,000 before they changed the name back to lure in more "libtards" in their own words.

Watch out, out there!

cyber terrorism allows a bunch of amateurs to go ahead and have the same terrorizing the fact as a bunch of professional criminals. It also helps that a bunch of rich people can go ahead, subsidize these mischief makers and get endless source of both chuckles and practical intimidation and fear without ever having to take responsibility. After all, please never forget, conservatism is nothing more that a bunch of cowards wanting all the power, and taking none of responsibility. Think of Trump how he would always go ahead and get bailed out by the government every time went the bankruptcy, or the seven states that were the first to go ahead and cry for hurricane relief, but when it came their time to pay up, or when they had to extend the same courtesy to someone else cried like babies.

Cybercrime is a cowards crime. That is why Trump likes it, that is why Bannon likes it, that is why Putin likes it, to say nothing of Julian Assange. anything that is all power and no responsibility will attract the right wing the way it spilled on the floor will attract cockroaches. Of course, since they do not have facts, or even solidarity, they will, with the saccharine sweetener. I just look forward to the fact that when Bannon and Trump finally have falling out, the scene though trolls will no doubt go ahead and start attacking Jared Kushner and his wife. Then, that is when we take whatever they haven't stolen from us, buy some popcorn, and enjoy the show.

the DU legit names - many with lots of comments to their credit..you know who you are - but then, when I read some of the headlines in GD they just don't seem genuine.....I used to be a trusting Pollyanna..no more...the trumpinistas are everywhere..some of the threads are started just to instigate..my point...before you go for it - and take that leap, like get suckered in...do your research -

I read a back and forth with 2 commenters here..one of them was just in it for the play...next time I see it I will highlight the thread...sorry ..(NO, it wasn't a long time DUer, it was an unsuspecting newbee...)

This is not to say I don't welcome newbees..just some of the subject matter smells of O'keefe & Co....

I have to look up the name, but he (Trump) has someone known as a troll an advisor to his team. It was news yesterday.

5. The Facebook Hacking Continues, why is it ignored?

Thank you for being among the few to call
attention to the Facebook Group hackings.
I just want to say,:
If ANYONE is really concerned about the hacking that went on during the elections, well IT'S STILL GOING ON.
RIGHT NOW.
One of Facebook's largest Democrat groups ('Republicans SUCK&quot remains hacked.
There are other, smaller groups also.
These Democrat Facebook groups that have been getting hacked all year are the groups used to send out reminders and info for Democrats on local elections.
THE HACKING IS A DELIBERATE EFFORT TO BREAK THIS COMMUNICATION.
As I'm sure you know, some of those hacked Facebook groups are still hacked.
In addition, On the GOP right side, so many of their pages and groups over run with fake pro white supremacist, pro alt right "news" clearly designed to incite racial unrest.
This stuff is coming from what are clearly fake accounts from off shore (most of those list Macedonia).
WHY is all of this just ignored?
(I have more questions I'll go ahead and toss out here)
1) WHY, when this fake news is reported to Facebook (using the drop down report feature as they advise) does NOTHING happen?
2) Why does Facebook allow these fake accounts to be created, and why don't they delete them when they're reported? Facebook is on the inside, they can see what's happening.
3) Why when the Democrat groups have been hacked and reported to Facebook (in EVERY possible way, including comments on Mark Zuckerberg's page, is there no response?
AND
What can I (a regular person, not a group owner or administrator) do to bring attention to this problem or help to end it?

all good questions. i suggest that you hang around a bit, join some conversations, and after you hit 10 posts, post your comments as an op.
this one might pick up some steam, but a recent post will get more attention.

meanwhile, we are very good at debunking bullshit here.
