Dems force delay in confirmation of Trump Cabinet Deplorable

Seung Min Kim @seungminkim
NEWS: @SenAlexander , @PattyMurray announce DeVos hearing moved to Jan. 17. Was Wednesday. Dems demanded delay due to paperwork issues.

Washington, D.C. – Members of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee wrote to president-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education, Betsy DeVos, requesting information on her involvement with the American Federation for Children and the Great Lakes Education Project, dark money political groups with ties to the American Legislative Exchange Council and other Koch brothers organizations. DeVos is a member of the Kochs’ donor network and has been particularly active in funding conservative education initiatives in Michigan and nationwide.

In their letter, Senators Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Bob Casey (D-PA), Al Franken (D-MN), Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) request a response to their questions before DeVos’s HELP Committee confirmation hearing on January 11th.

Mining Would Be Exciting For Kids: Trumps Secretary Of Education Wants Legal Child Labor

On Wednesday, Trump announced Betsy DeVos as the person he wants overseeing education in this country for the next four years. DeVos is a billionaire conservative donor who supports school vouchers and diverted public funds to religious schools, which would be a major violation of the separation of church and state since tax dollars would flow to “Christian” schools.

But DeVos is even more dangerous because of her ties to groups that want to take poor children out of the classroom and stick them straight into the workforce doing dangerous jobs like coal mining.

Acton Institute is funded by DeVos, and it advocates for the end of child labor laws.

Public education has been vilified for so long that a lot of people would love to see her get in there and "change the system".

quietly withdraw from consideration.

Seems like she and others might not want the answers to these questions to see the light of day.

can debtors prison and indentured servitude for children be far behind? I swear to God, if the Republicans could get away with it, debtors work prisons and indentured servitude picking lettuce and shoveling coal and flipping burgers would be installed.

get rid of the federal min wage and add a bit about cities and states not being able to institute their own.

Of course, corporations wouldn't make us work for a dollar a day....right?

The DeVos/Prince family basically owns Grand Rapids, MI, along with much of that area of the state. They are bolstered by the Calvanist Dutch Reformed Church (world headquarters in Grand Rapids). Don't let that name fool you. There's nothing reformed about it; they are strict Calvanists through and through. In other words, no matter what your deeds in life are (good or evil) you are predestined to either heaven or Hell at your birth. No good deeds can save your miserable doomed soul.

One wonders why anybody would think that this is a good philosophy. However, there ya go. It's the sauce that the DeVos/Prince clan pour over everything in Southeast Michigan, starting with fucking criminal AmWay. There must be a rubber room large enough for all of them, however I doubt it. They are all certifiably barking mad, but they have power and are not about to give it up. Praise Jesus!

my Senator from Rhode Island is included, I have been sending him so many e mails about tRump. I was going to send him the article from Democracy Now the interview of Mr. David Cay Johnston who just wrote a book about tRump which was posted on DU to alert him about tRump's mental state may be he can do something. Talk to a mental health professional but I am determined to keep on this.
