Teddy Roosevelt quote:

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."

...benefited humanity or was worth a damn.

Your concern concerning Teddy Roosevelt's statement on how not to be a cringing subject of a dictator is duly noted.

...would have deported everyone of African linage to Africa. So by your logic, the Republican President who ended slavery, preserved the Union, etc. should be derided.

Just as FDR who gave us the New Deal, Social Security, helped to defeat the Nazi's, etc. was an anti-Semite.

All great people have flaws that are often a product of the times. You want perfection, seek Jesus....but from the sound of your posts, you think yourself perfect, and thus Jesus.

...that even an asshole like Carnegie was like "Dude, chill the fuck out!"

Teddy wasn't perfect, neither Lincoln, Jefferson (who owned slaves), Washington, etc. However, if it wasn't for Teddy, we may have never had National Parks and a dam in Yosemite valley (bad enough they put one in Hetch Hetchy) and silent geysers in Yellowstone due to being used as geo thermal energy. We would also be slaves to monopolies and in a permanent "lower class". Teddy was a racist, sure...but so was a significant majority of the nation. I can separate out the good ideas from the bad and push the good ones and give credit where its due for them. But to lambast everything is like saying we should stop using phones because Bell was associated with Eugenics.

President Roosevelt was one of our greatest presidents. He stood up to big business, protected the environment, and was basically the reverse of our current Republicans. Read a bio on him and you will be amazed.

But that was when the GOP was a sane Party.

Same shit we are hearing today about Mexicans and Muslims only then it was Chinese and Italians. He was, at heart, a racist who like Drumpf believed in a white America.
