(52,326 posts)he's a very measured man and not given to boasting about anything ever, but he's always said he met her at some summer camp, in upstate new york i think. when she was 15 and calling herself joannie and pronounced her last name "baze". my father would have been 20 then. she had a guitar and basically knew how to strum but dad taught her some basic chords.
naturally my father never thought she'd eventually become famous so didn't get any autograph or anything like that, so i have no proof.

knowing what to do with them is another thing entirely.
