Why are the biggest Dems and the supposedly liberal media
suddenly attacking Bernie Sanders?
This .. makes .. no .. sense.
Trump, Putin, and the GOP need to be attacked every damm hour!
But not our good guys!

(28,860 posts)But it's so divisive and harmful.
Even Obama's doing it.
We need officials like Sanders and Warren helping us
fight our battles, standing together!
I think that even Clinton would get behind them,
at least I hope so!

(26,328 posts)That was bullshit spin by bitter losers looking to make Bernie supporters a scapegoat for our loss.
These bitter losers, ironically, don't mind twisting President Obama's words and furthering repig spin that the ACA is so unpopular it must be repealed - as long as it helps extract their pound of flesh they feel is their due.
If you read the full quote, you see President Obama is in fact defending ACA against the repig spin that 40% are dissatisfied with the ACA therefore 40% want the program repealed.
He is saying that among the 40% dissatisfied with ACA, are a contingent of people (Bernie supporters) who want the ACA enhanced or strengthened.
Full quote:
"And the third thing is that the polls whenever you look at polls showing 40 percent are supportive of the law, 40 percent or so are dissatisfied, in the dissatisfied column are a whole bunch of Bernie Sanders supporters who want a single-payer plan. The problem is not that they think its a failure. The problem is that they dont think it went far enough. That it left too many people uncovered, the subsidies were not as rich as they should have been, that there was a way of dealing with prescription drug makers in a way that would drive down those costs. All of those things meant that even after the law was passed, there were still going to be a lot of tough politics."

(36,649 posts)The fact that he continued his campaign after his loss - and continues even this day - can only have helped Trump.
OTOH the Democratic candidate in the general election got the most votes, in spite of those forces arrayed against her. The only reason she didn't "win" is because it was stolen.

It's amazing how many people still don't get it.
We can't "criticize" Democrats actions in any way or we will be banned from DU.

(14,173 posts)Some of you think the things Bernie is STILL fighting for, and HAS been fighting for before the primaries, was just a bunch of campaign slogans. And so you may be confused as to why he is still talking.
Get your head in the game and realize that he does not live in that bubble of trying to say the right things just to get elected. It just happens that many Americans were ready for his message...if they had a chance to hear it. And because his idea are not just temporary slogans, they transcend petty party politics that seem to be all the rage in here. Or if he has the right letter in front of his name.

Bernie ran a really good primary, don't know if he could have won the election or not, past history but regardless the things he said, the issues he covered were all important for the working class & would be good policies. The same with Warren who fights hard for everyone who can use the help.
Have no clue why he is being attacked but they are still doing it here on DU as well. Personally, I supported him & still do but when Clinton was the nominee, supported her.
There is a time & place to move on & unite for our common good.

(53,032 posts)If Bernie stopped chastising Democrats in the press and if his primary supporters would let up a bit. The campaign to annoint him sage and savior is backfiring. People can only take so much.
People who didn't support Bernie in the primary will come around if he can show results, if we see him accomplish something. But do we really need a tribute thread for every single TV appearance?

(2,078 posts)The progressive wing of the party got active in 2016, and now they want to take over the party leadership. The neoliberal establishment wants to keep control. It's just an intra-party squabble and Sanders makes for a decent proxy for attacking the progressive wing.

I mean there's some who just can't get over the election and need to blame someone.
However I think that it's the Russians and Republican trolls because they want to do anything they can to sew division and keep the dems divided.
If they can keep us fighting the primary then they can roll right in.

(38,312 posts)The most dangerous force today in U.S. politics are the affluent white guys who don't want to admit women and minorities into their clubhouse. Those are the guys who plotted out Trump's victory.
The Democratic Party ought to be the party of EVERYONE else, and yes this means we're going to have to support a few Democrats who lean to the right of most DU posters. I figure about 40% of U.S. Americans don't recognize fascism and other forms of authoritarianism when they see it. They might even like those they regard as "strong" leaders, even when the roll is played by an actor such as Ronald Reagan, or a venal and narcissistic reality television star like Donald Trump.
Personally, I've always been forced to vote for politicians to my right. Jerry Brown and Barrack Obama are both right of me, and even right-of-center compared to most first world social democracies. But I aggressively support both of them. Sanders is also to my right.
Obama is one of the great presidents in U.S. history, Trump will be one of the worst. Trump makes Arnold Schwarzenegger look like an intellectual, and I say this as someone who suffered through Schwarzenegger's governorship.

They should understand six days a week Bernie coverage is inadequate. The media blackout continues. Imagine having the audacity to cover the Russian hack and incoming president? If they were real journalists rather than corporate lackies, they would devote themselves to Bernie 24/7.
