That was bullshit spin by bitter losers looking to make Bernie supporters a scapegoat for our loss.

These bitter losers, ironically, don't mind twisting President Obama's words and furthering repig spin that the ACA is so unpopular it must be repealed - as long as it helps extract their pound of flesh they feel is their due.

If you read the full quote, you see President Obama is in fact defending ACA against the repig spin that 40% are dissatisfied with the ACA therefore 40% want the program repealed.

He is saying that among the 40% dissatisfied with ACA, are a contingent of people (Bernie supporters) who want the ACA enhanced or strengthened.

Full quote:

"And the third thing is that the polls — whenever you look at polls showing 40 percent are supportive of the law, 40 percent or so are dissatisfied, in the dissatisfied column are a whole bunch of Bernie Sanders supporters who want a single-payer plan. The problem is not that they think it’s a failure. The problem is that they don’t think it went far enough. That it left too many people uncovered, the subsidies were not as rich as they should have been, that there was a way of dealing with prescription drug makers in a way that would drive down those costs. All of those things meant that even after the law was passed, there were still going to be a lot of tough politics."

The fact that he continued his campaign after his loss - and continues even this day - can only have helped Trump.

OTOH the Democratic candidate in the general election got the most votes, in spite of those forces arrayed against her. The only reason she didn't "win" is because it was stolen.

Some of you think the things Bernie is STILL fighting for, and HAS been fighting for before the primaries, was just a bunch of campaign slogans. And so you may be confused as to why he is still talking.

Get your head in the game and realize that he does not live in that bubble of trying to say the right things just to get elected. It just happens that many Americans were ready for his message...if they had a chance to hear it. And because his idea are not just temporary slogans, they transcend petty party politics that seem to be all the rage in here. Or if he has the right letter in front of his name.

Bernie ran a really good primary, don't know if he could have won the election or not, past history but regardless the things he said, the issues he covered were all important for the working class & would be good policies. The same with Warren who fights hard for everyone who can use the help.

Sun Jan 8, 2017, 04:37 PM

The most dangerous force today in U.S. politics are the affluent white guys who don't want to admit women and minorities into their clubhouse. Those are the guys who plotted out Trump's victory.

The Democratic Party ought to be the party of EVERYONE else, and yes this means we're going to have to support a few Democrats who lean to the right of most DU posters. I figure about 40% of U.S. Americans don't recognize fascism and other forms of authoritarianism when they see it. They might even like those they regard as "strong" leaders, even when the roll is played by an actor such as Ronald Reagan, or a venal and narcissistic reality television star like Donald Trump.

Personally, I've always been forced to vote for politicians to my right. Jerry Brown and Barrack Obama are both right of me, and even right-of-center compared to most first world social democracies. But I aggressively support both of them. Sanders is also to my right.

Obama is one of the great presidents in U.S. history, Trump will be one of the worst. Trump makes Arnold Schwarzenegger look like an intellectual, and I say this as someone who suffered through Schwarzenegger's governorship.
