(31,389 posts)Despite having differences of opinion with him on policy, it has been wonderful to see such
a beautiful, intelligent, caring family occupy the White House. He is a good man and you
especially see that in his interaction with children.

(70,106 posts)i had already heard a lot of good things about this skinny guy w the funny name from folks in the hood who knew him, and from a couple of his peeps from springfield.
it was a rally, in '04, just a day or 2 before the election. the dupage dems. a thing that had never been seen, that grew out of christine cegelis' near defeat of henry hyde, which caused him to retire.
she kept the fight going after she lost, and here she was again, looking good in the election.
the folks who took the stage to tell their "obama moments" blew me away. many stories of his legendary ability to cross lines and reach consensus.
best part, as the crowd thinned out, i got to spend a few minutes w my candidate, and said skinny guy. if i had known then, i would have taken more pics. i didnt even bother to get one of the 2 of us, tho i took a few of him w christine.
some day when he comes back to chicago, i want to ask him if he remembers that night. it was electric. and he liked my art car, which i was circling the parking lot in when he left the building. i got a huge smile and a wave.
it was the most electric thing i was ever a part of. at the time.
4 years later i would be freezing on the mall to see him inaugurated.
and that is an obama moment that tops them all.
