and are usually famous/important. I wouldn't know about all that or how one gets verified. But they're going for high-value targets, not all users.

So on the one hand, most of us don't have to worry about our own accounts, but the famous folks (especially the media!) could be subject to blackmail or harassment. We will need to fight for them, and can do so with a little less fear than if our own families were threatened.
