They like knowing what to expect. An economy based on slow, steady growth encourages companies to invest in the future. I believe they would be more willing to take more risk in capital expenditures when they aren't worried about the bottom falling out. I'm no economist but I'm not adding on to my house when I'm worried about losing my income.
